Job Description:
Full-time, tenure-track nursing faculty position responsible for teaching undergraduate courses (online and in-person), advising students, developing curriculum, and engaging in scholarship, service, and professional development within a collaborative academic environment.
Instructor/Assistant Professor of Nursing
Frostburg State University seeks qualified applicants for an Instructor/Assistant Professor in our Department of Nursing. Available to begin Fall 2026, this is a full-time, 10-month tenure-track faculty position with teaching, service, and professional development responsibilities. Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications; University System of Maryland benefits package included.
The Department of Nursing at FSU provides a variety of undergraduate and graduate nursing programs and pathways including a new online LPN to BSN, a new on-campus BSN program, an online RN to BSN, and four graduate nursing concentrations. This faculty position is to teach primarily within the undergraduate on-campus and online programs.
The Department of Nursing is a dynamic, fast-paced environment that thrives on the strengths of each team member. Responsibilities: Teach online and face-to-face in both didactic and clinical courses at the undergraduate level. Advise undergraduate students. Design curriculum and design and coordinate curriculum in area of specialty/expertise. Devote efforts to scholarly activities and professional development. Provide service activities to the department, college, university, community, and/or profession. Other academic duties as assigned. Maintaining active practice is encouraged but not required.
Minimum Qualifications: Earned graduate degree in nursing or graduate degree in another field with a nursing teaching certificate from a regionally accredited university. Unrestricted license or eligible for RN licensure in Maryland. We are seeking applicants with recent clinical nursing practice and/or considerable professional development related to clinical nursing practice.
The successful candidate will display evidence of leadership skills and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Candidates without a doctoral degree in Nursing will come in at the rank of Instructor with the requirement of completing a doctoral degree in nursing or closely related field prior to the tenure review year.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned or in progress doctoral degree in nursing or related field. Earned doctorate is required to come in at the rank of Assistant Professor.
