Guardians of Honor (GOH) is a small management consulting firm supporting the federal government since 1997 (www.gohnow.com). We are seeking experienced STEM education professionals to support the operation of our DoD STARBASE Academy client at Patrick Space Force Base, Florida.ย 


GOH is recruiting in anticipation of potential future openings that are subject to final approval and funding. No guarantee of position availability can be made at this time; however, candidate identification and preliminary interviews are being conducted to support timely hiring should authorization be granted.ย 


Position Overviewย - Service Contract Act (SCA) Position

The Instructor Assistant organizes and manages the classroom as backup to the Program Instructor, supports delivery of the STARBASE curriculum, maintains classroom order and materials, and assists the Director with classroom inventories, mission logs, and completion ceremony materials.ย 


Key Responsibilitiesย 

  • Prepare materials, classrooms, and activities for daily instructionย 
  • Read and know lesson scripts to place materials and equipment needed for instructionย 
  • Clean and store classroom materials and equipment; restock materials for instructionย 
  • Ensure robots (if applicable) and computers are chargedย 
  • Assist visiting instructors who participate in STARBASEย 
  • Assist district instructors with completion of the online STARBASE survey; assist in sending survey login information to volunteers, speakers, tour guides, and school staffย 
  • Assist in maintaining program documentation (photos, press releases, announcements)ย 
  • Assist in selecting/preparing materials purchase requests and verifying shipments/inventoriesย 
  • Maintain and rotate content of bulletin boardsย 
  • Maintain classroom inventories and consumables; notify the Director when supplies need replenishmentย 
  • Supervise lunch and help organize for classย 
  • Perform classroom, break room, and office maintenance and cleaning: assist with other duties as assigned by the Director in support of mission successย 

Requirements

  • High school diploma or higherย 
  • Must be at least 18 years oldย 

Additional Qualificationsย 

  • Knowledge of internet-based tools as well as Microsoft Office productsย 
  • Ability to recognize and support Program Instructors in teaching practices and classroom management skillsย 
  • Ability and willingness to maintain quality communication and effective relationships with military and civilian personnel, district school teachers, students, parents, and volunteersย 
  • Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)/First Aid certification requiredย 
  • Completion of criminal history background checkย ย 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None.ย 


Reports to: STARBASE Directorย 


Work Environment: Onsite at the DoD STARBASE facility; Patrick Space Force Base (Satellite Beach, FL).ย 


Physical demands: The physical demands of the job include sitting for extended periods, and occasional walking and standing, including classroom setup and cleaning duties.ย 


Position type and expected hours of work: Full-time, non-exempt, SCA. Core office hours are 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM, Monday through Friday.ย 


Travel: Minimal; primarily local to the STARBASE facility.ย 


Required education and experience: High school diploma required; age 18 or older.ย
