Job description

Embedded Electronic Security Technician II

Location:ย Chicago, IL

Travel:ย 25โ€“40% regional travel

Duration:ย Long-term contract through September 2030

Overview

We are seeking anย Embedded Electronic Security Technician IIย to support a federal customer in Chicago. This role will be fully embedded onsite and will play a key part in maintaining, upgrading, and supporting electronic security systems across regional field offices.

This position is offered through Insight Global as a subcontracting partner and will remain a long-term contract role for the duration of the program.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Pay Rate:ย $39.67โ€“$41/hr (inclusive of fringe)
  • 11 paid federal holidays
  • Sick time:ย 1 hour accrued per 30 hours worked
  • PTO:ย 10 days after 1 year of service
  • Competitive compensation aligned with federal SCA guidelines

Travel Requirements

  • Approximatelyย 25โ€“40% travel
  • Typicallyย 1 week (Monโ€“Fri) per month, plus occasional short trips (1โ€“2 days)
  • Travel includes visiting regional field offices for maintenance, upgrades, and reporting

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and system upgrades across multiple locations
  • Support installation, configuration, and lifecycle replacement of physical security systems including:
  • PACS (Access Control)
  • IDS (Intrusion Detection Systems)
  • VSS (Video Surveillance Systems)
  • Coordinate with regional offices on service tickets, installations, and ongoing support
  • Assist with system design, procurement, and logistics planning
  • Oversee subcontractors and support project coordination efforts
  • Conduct system testing, inspections, and compliance verification
  • Support system integrations, software updates, and end-user training
  • Maintain inventory tracking and reporting for security system assets

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship requiredย (federal background clearance required)
  • Ability to pass aย comprehensive FDIC background investigation
  • 5+ years of experienceย in the electronic security systems industry
  • Hands-on installation/service experience in commercial or federal environments
  • Experience must extend beyond basic cable pulling
  • Experience with at least one of the following systems:
  • Lenel
  • CCURE
  • Hirsch
  • Strong troubleshooting and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and professionalism
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience supportingย federal or government clients
  • Previousย security clearance or military background
  • Experience coordinating projects or overseeing subcontractors

FDIC Background Investigation:

Comprehensive criminal history review

  • Federal, state, and local records (felonies and misdemeanors)

Credit and financial background review

  • Evaluates overall financial responsibility and history

Tax compliance verification

  • Review of federal tax filing history and any outstanding obligations

Federal debt review

  • Includes items like student loans or other federal debt delinquencies

Bankruptcy history check

  • Prior filings may be reviewed as part of financial risk assessment

Citizenship verification

  • Must be aย U.S. Citizenย to complete FDIC clearance
