The Opportunity
This isn't just another technical sales role-this is your chance to be the trusted technical advisor for technology that's reshaping how enterprises process data for AI and analytics. As a Solutions Engineer at DataPelago, you'll be the technical bridge between breakthrough technology and real-world customer environments. You'll partner with enterprise customers to understand their unique infrastructure challenges and architect solutions that transform their data processing economics, joining a company led by executives who've created 500+ patents and built multi-billion-dollar businesses.
You're not just implementing technology; you're enabling the technical foundation for the next generation of AI and analytics at scale. The customer impact is transformational.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Use Case Assessment: Deep-dive into customer infrastructures to understand their current data processing architecture, performance bottlenecks, and technical constraints. Map existing Spark workloads, identify optimization opportunities, and design DataPelago integration strategies that maximize value while minimizing disruption.
Solution Architecture & Design: Create comprehensive technical solutions that seamlessly integrate DataPelago products into customer environments across Open Table Formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi) and integrate seamlessly with existing Spark, Python, Scala, Java, and AI/ML frameworks.
Customer Success & Advocacy: Guide customer technical teams through proof-of-concept implementations, performance benchmarking, and production deployment planning. Lead workshops, training sessions, and architecture reviews with customer engineering teams. Transfer knowledge that enables customers to become successful with DataPelago technologies.
Product Feedback & Enhancement: Act as the voice of customer to our sales, marketing and product engineering teams. Identify common technical challenges, integration patterns, and enhancement opportunities that drive product roadmap priorities that will drive deals.
Required Qualifications and Skills
  • 5+ years of experience in pre or post sales, solutions engineering or technical consulting in data and analytics

  • Deep expertise in Lakehouse architectures, Open Table Formats (Iceberg, Delta Lake, Hudi), and modern data engineering patterns.

  • Hands-on technical sales experience with Apache Spark, Python, Scala, Java, and AI/ML frameworks including implementation and performance optimization

  • Strong public cloud knowledge (AWS, Azure, GCP) with experience in onboarding customers implementing data and analytics solutions

  • Exceptional communication skills-able to explain complex architectural concepts through documentation, whiteboarding, and technical presentations

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, innovative environment where technical challenges energize you and customer success drives you

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field, Masters ideal
