What is an infrastructure solutions engineer?

Infrastructure Solutions Engineers are professionals who design, implement, and manage the foundational technology systems that support an organization's operations. They focus on ensuring that hardware, software, networks, and cloud services work together seamlessly to meet business needs. Their responsibilities often include evaluating technology requirements, developing scalable infrastructure solutions, troubleshooting complex issues, and optimizing system performance. By bridging the gap between technical requirements and business goals, Infrastructure Solutions Engineers play a crucial role in maintaining efficient and secure IT environments.

What are some common challenges infrastructure solutions engineers face when integrating new technologies into existing systems?

Infrastructure Solutions Engineers often encounter challenges related to compatibility and scalability when introducing new technologies into established IT environments. These challenges can include ensuring seamless integration with legacy systems, minimizing downtime during transitions, and maintaining robust security throughout the process. Position Overview

The Regional Architect Manager leads a team of approximately 10 Solutions Architects in the Southeast United States, serving as both a hands‑on technical leader and a people‑first manager within Insight’s North America Infrastructure Solutions organization. This role is part of Insight’s presales Solutions Engineering and Architecture function, which designs outcome‑based solutions that address complex client challenges across five core infrastructure domains.

  1. Cloud, Compute & Storage
  2. Security
  3. Managed Services
  4. AI & Automation
  5. Networking, IoT & Edge

Reporting to the Regional Architect Director, who in turn reports to the Vice President of Architecture for North America Infrastructure Solutions, this manager serves as the critical link between Insight’s regional sales teams and its technical delivery capabilities. The Regional Architect Manager ensures that every client engagement in the Southeast is grounded in architecturally sound, business‑aligned solutions — while simultaneously building a high‑performing team culture rooted in technical excellence, continuous learning, and Insight’s core values of Hunger, Heart, and Harmony.

Location

What You’ll Do at InsightTeam Building & Technical Leadership
  • Build, develop, and lead a high‑performing team of approximately 10 Solutions Architects in the Southeast region, organized around Insight’s five infrastructure solution areas.
  • Foster a unified culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and client‑first solutioning that aligns with the broader North America Architecture organization’s standards.
  • Define resource allocation and coverage strategies to ensure presales capacity aligns with regional sales demand and growth priorities across the Southeast.
  • Develop career paths, technical certification strategies, and skills roadmaps to ensure your team stays ahead of evolving technology trends.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, technical readiness assessments, and coaching sessions for direct reports, driving both individual growth and team‑level performance.
  • Actively aid, educate, and support peer Architects, Consultants, and Engineers across the broader organization — serving as a force multiplier for technical knowledge.
Presales Strategy & Solution Design
  • Own the presales technical strategy for the Southeast region, ensuring architecturally sound and commercially viable solutions are brought to every client engagement.
  • Partner with regional Services Sales Directors and MDE teams to qualify opportunities, shape deal strategy, and deliver compelling technical proposals and presentations.
  • Drive the adoption and regional customization of repeatable solution frameworks, reference architectures, and reusable assets across all five solution areas to accelerate time‑to‑proposal.
  • Establish and uphold standards of excellence for solution design, scoping accuracy, and technical proposal quality across the Southeast Architecture team.
  • Ensure all proposed solutions align with Insight’s outcome‑based services approach — translating technical capabilities into measurable business outcomes for clients.
  • Develop Insight proposals that dissect complex business and technical challenges and present clear, actionable solutions.
Client Engagement & Trusted Advisory
  • Own the overall technical relationship (trusted advisor) with pre‑assigned accounts and other clients as needs arise across the Southeast region.
  • Build trusted advisor relationships with senior IT leaders and key technical stakeholders at Insight’s strategic accounts in the region.
  • Lead and participate in architectural workshops, discovery sessions, and whiteboarding engagements for enterprise and strategic accounts.
  • Identify client business and technical requirements for opportunities, championing technical solutions that provide the client the best chance of success.
  • Travel across the Southeast to support your team on complex, multi‑domain opportunities and provide hands‑on technical leadership on high‑profile pursuits.
  • Represent Insight at regional industry events, partner summits, and executive forums as a thought leader in modern infrastructure solutions.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with Delivery, Managed Services, and Professional Services leadership to ensure seamless handoff from presales design to implementation and ongoing operations.
  • Collaborate with OEM and technology partners (e.g., hyperscalers, security vendors, networking/edge providers) to influence joint solutions and drive co‑selling motions.
  • Align with regional sales leadership, including Area VPs and General Managers, to ensure presales architecture resources are strategically deployed against the highest‑value opportunities.
  • Work closely with Field Marketing, Solutions Marketing, and Product teams to contribute to thought leadership content, client‑facing collateral, and demand generation initiatives.
  • Provide technical input on major proposals, RFP responses, and strategic pursuits across the Southeast region.
Innovation, Strategy & Market Intelligence
  • Stay at the forefront of industry trends across cloud, security, AI/automation, managed services, and networking/IoT/edge — translating market shifts into actionable presales strategies for the region.
  • Identify whitespace opportunities where Insight can develop new solution offerings or expand existing capabilities to meet emerging client needs in the Southeast market.
  • Contribute to Insight’s broader infrastructure solutions roadmap by synthesizing field‑level intelligence on client demand patterns, competitive positioning, and technology adoption trends.
  • Champion innovation within the team, encouraging proof‑of‑concept development, lab environments, and collaborative initiatives that can be scaled regionally and nationally.
What You’ll Need to Join InsightExperience
