Server Infrastructure Engineer
Dearborn, MI (HYBRID)
W2 CONTRACT ONLY | LONG TERM/NO END DATE
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Server Infrastructure Engineer to support and evolve our global server infrastructure environment. This role is responsible for enterprise server engineering, hardware support, automation, firmware lifecycle management, infrastructure design, and monitoring. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in server hardware, OOB management platforms, automation tools, and enterprise systems engineering while operating independently and contributing to architecture-level initiatives.
Responsibilities
  • Provide Global L3 support, root cause analysis, and troubleshooting for complex server hardware issues.
  • Serve as SME for HPE, Dell, and Lenovo servers, including iLO, iDRAC, HPE OneView, HPE COM, and OpenManage Enterprise.
  • Develop and maintain automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Ansible, Redfish API, and REST APIs.
  • Lead firmware lifecycle management, server configuration automation, hardware testing, and FMEA activities.
  • Design, implement, and support enterprise server, virtualization, hybrid cloud, containerization, and Kubernetes solutions.
  • Manage infrastructure projects including SSL certificate deployments, MFA initiatives, and server modernization efforts.
  • Engineer monitoring and observability solutions utilizing Dynatrace and Netcool, including capacity planning and performance optimization.
  • Create technical standards, maintain documentation, mentor team members, and contribute to enterprise architecture roadmaps.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of server infrastructure, systems engineering, or enterprise IT experience, including 5+ years supporting enterprise server environments.
  • Expert knowledge of x86 server hardware, Windows and Linux administration, and TCP/IP networking.
  • Advanced experience with OOB management technologies (iLO, iDRAC, OneView, OpenManage Enterprise, etc.).
  • Strong automation and scripting skills using PowerShell, Python, Ansible, and REST APIs.
  • Experience with firmware lifecycle management, server testing, FMEA, and infrastructure automation.
  • Knowledge of virtualization, distributed storage systems, and containerized environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Dynatrace, Netcool, or similar monitoring platforms.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and leadership skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with Azure, GCP, Active Directory, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Knowledge of SSL certificates, MFA, SNMP, SMTP, and enterprise security practices.
  • Experience with ServiceNow, BMC, JIRA, and AI-driven automation solutions.
  • Familiarity with server test labs, decommissioning, licensing, vendor management, and performance tuning.
