Role summary:
The (USA) Systems and Infrastructure Engineer II plays a key role in maintaining and enhancing infrastructure systems by performing routine maintenance, automating processes, and supporting capacity management. This position involves coding, configuration, and version control to ensure robust, secure, and scalable solutions aligned with business requirements. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to analyze needs, implement improvements, and uphold compliance with security and quality standards. The engineer contributes to system design, issue resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives, supporting Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and reliable technology delivery.
About the team:
The Vendor Integration and Building Enablement Team manages the setup, delivery, and support of third-party solutions within Walmart’s Supply Chain. This team oversees application ownership, security solutions, and the implementation of new technologies to enhance supply chain operations. Members collaborate to maintain system performance, automate processes, and ensure compliance with security standards. The team is committed to delivering reliable, scalable infrastructure solutions that support business objectives and operational efficiency, fostering continuous improvement and innovation in a dynamic environment.
What you'll do:

  • Perform routine maintenance tasks for infrastructure systems, including backups, patch management, and hot fixes.
  • Maintain backup media and log files of all system transactions to ensure data integrity.
  • Assist in automating repetitive tasks using scripting languages and automation tools to improve operational efficiency.
  • Support configuration and release management by configuring virtual machines and managing version control processes.
  • Contribute to infrastructure design by evaluating tradeoffs and adhering to security and compliance standards.
  • Analyze IT resource utilization and assist in capacity planning to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Document program development, revisions, and maintain traceability between requirements and deliverables.

  • Proficiency in infrastructure maintenance, including backup management, patching, and system performance monitoring.
  • Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Python or JavaScript to streamline repetitive tasks.
