Job description

Join Our Team!
Warehouse employees are important members of the ABC team, who make sure that product is ready for shipment to our 125+ stores. Team members work in a physically demanding environment where meeting productivity standards and safety standards are required. The Warehouse Dock Worker will ensure that the shipping area operates accurately and effectively, contributing their experience and skills to ensure that products are successfully delivered to our stores. Standard hours are 8:30 am - 6 pm (hours may vary depending on needs of the business) Monday - Thursday. Weekends Off - Including Friday, Saturday and Sunday!
SIT-DOWN FORKLIFT EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED
Responsibilities
Specific Job Responsibilities
  • Ensure pallets are completed in a timely manner and verify loads with shipping documents
  • Read and interpret shipping labels
  • Review and understand forms utilized in freight movement such as shipping orders and exception forms
  • Put cases onto pallets for loading onto trucks - some days up to 7,000 cases per day
  • Stack boxes and cases as needed
  • Drive forklift to load trucks as needed
  • Assist and train new team members as needed
  • Maintain the shipping area to ensure quality standards are being met
  • Other duties as assigned by your supervisor

Warehouse Responsibilities - All Employees
  • Follow all ABC safety protocols
  • Promptly report and clean up spills, breakage, or other issues
  • Lift 35-50-pound cases, sometimes a hundred times a day
  • Stand on feet for 10+ hours a day
  • Maintain minimum productivity standards per department
  • Assemble boxes for spilt case line
  • Clean, sanitize, and keep warehouse tidy
  • Prepare work area for next day, including charging equipment and organizing area
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Minimum Experience, Skills, and Education
  • One or more years of experience in a warehouse environment
  • Proven knowledge of warehouse procedures and best practices
  • Strong team player
  • Communicates well with others in a team environment
  • Proven ability to work independently with little supervision
  • Knowledge of Warehouse Systems, specifically on the AS400 platform
  • Available to work a full-time schedule, with occasional nights and weekends during busy seasons. Standard hours are 8:30am - 6 pm Monday - Thursday.
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to assess and react quickly to changing warehouse needs
  • 19 years of age or older
  • Must pass both drug and background checks prior to starting work
  • Must speak and understand job-level English
  • Have a positive teamwork attitude; is reliable and trust-worthy

Physical Requirements
With or Without Accommodations
  • Must be able to remain standing for long periods of time, upwards of 10 hours at a time, and move throughout the warehouse
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds of product
  • Must be able to reach with hands and arms for product and use hands to work with and feel product
  • Able to frequently climb and descend ladders or lift platforms that may be greater than 6 feet.
  • Able to move body to access products that are out of reach above or below body level
  • Sense of smell occasionally needed to find damages that may not be visible
  • Close vision (at 20 inches or less), distance vision (at 20 feet or more), peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus are needed.

Work Environment
  • Frequent humid conditions: the warehouse is a not temperature controlled. Fans are provided.
  • Moving mechanical parts are frequently used.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to working in high, precarious places (greater than 6ft).
  • There is occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
