Job description

Summary/Objective:

The Pipelayer - Underground Electric installs conduit, duct banks, vaults, handholes, and related underground infrastructure for electric utility construction projects. This position requires underground electric experience and the ability to work safely around excavations, equipment, and existing utilities.

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functions.

·       Install underground electric conduit, duct banks, sweeps, fittings, spacers, vaults, handholes, and related components.

·       Assist with trench preparation, bedding, alignment, grading, backfill, and compaction activities.

·       Support wire pulling operations and prepare conduit systems for primary and secondary electric installations.

·       Read and follow plans, utility drawings, grade stakes, and field instructions.

·       Coordinate with operators, laborers, linemen, journeymen, inspectors, and supervisors.

·       Follow company safety procedures, excavation safety requirements, and utility protection practices.

 

Qualifications

·       Previous underground electric construction experience required.

·       Experience installing conduit, duct banks, vaults, handholes, and related electric infrastructure required.

·       Experience supporting wire pulling and primary/secondary electric installations preferred.

·       Ability to read basic plans, utility drawings, grades, and field markings.

·       Knowledge of trench safety, excavation safety, bedding, backfill, and compaction practices.

·       Ability to safely use hand tools, levels, lasers, and measuring equipment.

·       Must be dependable, safety-minded, and able to work effectively as part of a crew.
