How much do independent contractor reseller jobs pay per week?

As of May 29, 2026, the average weekly pay for independent contractor reseller in the United States is $1,089.33, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $721.15 and $1,211.54 per week, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Independent Contractor Reseller, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Independent Contractor Reseller, you need a solid understanding of sales techniques, product knowledge, and basic business operations, often supported by prior sales experience or relevant training. Familiarity with CRM software, e-commerce platforms, and inventory management tools is typically required. Strong negotiation, networking, and self-motivation skills help you excel in building client relationships and driving sales. These skills are crucial for effectively managing your business, expanding your client base, and maximizing profitability in a competitive market.

How do Independent Contractor Resellers typically manage relationships with suppliers and clients to ensure business growth?

Independent Contractor Resellers often act as intermediaries between suppliers and end clients, so building and maintaining strong professional relationships is key to success. This involves consistent communication, negotiating favorable terms, and ensuring timely delivery of products or services. Resellers must stay informed about product updates and market trends, address client concerns promptly, and collaborate closely with suppliers to resolve any issues. Effective relationship management can lead to repeat business, referrals, and potential opportunities to expand into new markets or product lines.

What are Independent Contractor Resellers?

Independent Contractor Resellers are self-employed individuals or businesses that purchase products or services from a supplier and resell them to their own customers, usually for a profit. They operate independently, meaning they are not employees of the supplier and are responsible for their own business operations, taxes, and expenses. This arrangement gives resellers flexibility in how they run their business and who they sell to, but it also means they assume the risks and responsibilities associated with being an independent contractor.

What is the difference between Independent Contractor Reseller vs Sales Representative?

AspectIndependent Contractor ResellerSales Representative
CredentialsNone specific, often self-employedMay require sales or industry-specific certifications
Work EnvironmentSelf-managed, remote or on-siteTypically employed by a company, working in office or client sites
Employer & Industry UsageIndependent, selling products/services on behalf of companiesEmployed or contracted to sell products/services for a company

While both roles involve sales activities, an Independent Contractor Reseller operates independently, reselling products or services without direct employment, whereas a Sales Representative is usually employed or contracted by a company to promote and sell their offerings. Understanding these differences helps in choosing the right career path or job opportunity.

Job description

Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn't work together.

So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions - to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we've embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.

Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes - large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We're building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.
