An Inbound Sales Professional is a sales specialist who focuses on engaging and converting leads that have shown interest in a company's products or services, typically through inquiries, website visits, or marketing campaigns. Unlike outbound sales, which involves reaching out to potential customers cold, inbound sales professionals work with prospects who have already demonstrated some level of interest. Their main responsibilities include understanding customer needs, providing relevant information, and guiding prospects through the sales funnel to close deals. They often collaborate closely with marketing teams to ensure a seamless customer experience. The role requires strong communication, product knowledge, and problem-solving skills.

Job description

Hello, weโ€™re Instrumentl. \uD83D\uDC4B

Nonprofits do some of the most important work in the world, and most of them are still managing grants in spreadsheets. We're fixing that.

Instrumentl is a profitable, hypergrowth, YC-backed SaaS platform building the operating system for grant-funded organizations. More than 5,500 nonprofits use Instrumentl to discover, track, and win grant funding, from local community organizations to the San Diego Zoo and the University of Alaska. Collectively theyโ€™ve moved over $1 billion through our platform.

We're growing more than 40% year over year, customers love us (Ellis PMF 60+), and we're hiring people who want to build something that matters.

About the role:

Weโ€™re hiring an Inbound Sales Development Representative, reporting to the Senior Sales Development Manager, to be the first point of contact for nonprofits and universities reaching out to learn about Instrumentl. Youโ€™ll qualify inbound leads, run high-volume outreach to warm prospects, and set up the sales team to close, all while helping mission-driven organizations access the funding they need to grow their impact.
This role is perfect for a sales professional early on in their career, or someone looking to career switch into sales, that wants to help some of the best organizations in the world.

What you'll do:

Inbound Lead Management

  • Qualify and respond to inbound leads quickly, with warmth and strong attention to detail
  • Drive top-of-funnel volume through calls and emails, with a target of 400+ dials per week
  • Book 10+ demos for the team every week through top of funnel outreach (we have people doing more than 10/week today)
  • Win over organizations with fast follow-through, strong attention to detail, and palpable customer empathy

Pipeline & Collaboration

  • Track and document account and decision-maker details in our CRM to set the team up to close
  • Learn how Instrumentlโ€™s value proposition applies to different types of organizations so you can engage in high-quality conversations
  • Surface insights and blockers from prospect conversations to improve our pitch and process
What you'll bring:

Required

  • You have spent at least one (1) year selling, or 3+ years in another industry and want to get into sales
  • You are comfortable in fast-paced environments, and you bring a dose of humility and a sense of humor to work every day
  • You welcome feedback, champion new ideas, and encourage others to do likewise
  • Youโ€™re curious and are constantly getting to the bottom of things
  • You have a bias towards action
  • You donโ€™t mind rolling up your sleeves and doing hard work
  • You have excellent written and verbal communication skills

Nice to Have

  • Internship or leadership experience
  • Interest in startups or the nonprofit sector
  • Familiarity with CRM tools or sales engagement platforms
Compensation & benefits:

For US-based candidates, the target compensation for this role is $65,000 base salary plus $25,000 variable, for an OTE of $90,000. Final compensation is determined based on experience, skillset, scope of responsibility, interview performance, and geographic location. Weโ€™re committed to paying competitively and equitably.

Benefits

  • 100% covered health, dental, and vision insurance for employees (50% for dependents)
  • Generous PTO, including parental leave
  • 401(k)
  • Company laptop and home-office stipend
  • Bi-annual company retreats

Instrumentl is evolving rapidly. Youโ€™ll always have new challenges and opportunities to grow here.
