The Ride Platform - PR & Communications Manager

The Ride Platform

Austin, TX โ€ข On-site

Full-time

Job description

About The Ride Platform

The Ride Platform, Inc. is the parent company of Outdoorsy, Ride, Wheelbase, and Roamly. We are named for the single transaction where an operator meets a renter. We build end-to-end for the Operator Economy: the marketplaces to book (Outdoorsy, Ride), the enterprise SaaS to manage (Wheelbase), and the insurtech (Roamly) to protect the assets people turn into businesses. We enable millions of people to explore the world while helping independent operators build generational wealth. Our mission is to build the essential infrastructure for the mobility economy.

About the Role

The Ride Platform is looking for a strategic, self-motivated communications professional to lead its corporate and brand PR efforts.

As Public Relations Manager, you'll be an integral part of the marketing team, partnering closely with the Director of Marketing & PR on PR plans that earn media coverage, build our reputation as a tech and innovation company, and get us credit for the platform we're building.

This role supports critical communications initiatives including (but not limited to) earned media across tech, business, and trade press; executive thought leadership and ghostwriting; award submissions and speaking opportunities; cross-brand corporate storytelling; and brand reputation and issues management. Your focus is the corporate and B2B side of the portfolio โ€” Roamly, Wheelbase, and The Ride Platform itself โ€” and the conversations that matter to us: autonomous vehicles, insurtech, the operator economy, and the future of fleet ownership. This is not the Outdoorsy consumer or travel-media role.

The PR Manager will collaborate regularly with the Brand, Marketing, and Partnerships teams, as well as working with company spokespersons and executive leadership. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing & PR, and runs point with our external PR agency โ€” briefing, steering, and holding the work to a high bar.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Deliverables
  • Contribute to the development of the communications strategy for The Ride Platformโ€™s product and technology portfolio, driving narrative development and execution across product tests, feature releases, and innovation milestones.
  • Translate complex product innovation and technical advancements into clear, compelling narratives for members, media and industry stakeholders.
  • Lead global communications planning and alignment across regional teams to ensure consistent messaging and execution across key markets.
  • Manage agency partners and external vendors, ensuring best-in-class execution and creativity.
  • Pitch and land earned media across tech, business, and trade outlets, and build real relationships with the reporters who cover our space.
  • Develop executive thought leadership: bylines, op-eds, LinkedIn posts, conference talks, and briefing docs that give our leaders a clear point of view.
  • Prep executives for interviews, podcasts, and speaking slots, including the briefing materials and Q&A behind them.
  • Own award submissions and speaking opportunities that build our reputation as a tech and innovation company.
  • Track coverage and the media landscape, and report back on what's working and what to do next.
  • Connect stories across two or more brands so corporate moments pull through the whole portfolio.
  • Take on some owned content (LinkedIn, internal comms) as the function grows.
Who You Are (Candidate Profile)
  • 5+ years in PR or corporate communications, in-house or agency. We care more about the work than where you did it.
  • A track record landing earned coverage, executive visibility opportunities, and high-profile conference and speaking engagements.
  • Independently leveraging AI tools to enhance research, monitoring, drafting, and insight generation while applying strong ethical judgment and protecting sensitive information.
  • Strong writing. You can take a half-formed idea from an executive and turn it into a byline that sounds like them, not like a press release.
  • Comfort managing an agency or external partners
  • The range to move between audiences fast: press, executives, investors, partners, operators.
  • An "owner" personality: biased toward action, a great collaborator, and someone who pushes toward clarity and delivery.
Nice-to-Haves
  • Experience in a regulated, technical, or fast-moving space (insurtech, fintech, mobility, AV, SaaS).
  • Experience in standing up or scaling a corporate comms function.

Benefits

What We Offer
  • Competitive Compensation: Base salary range of $95,000 - $115,000 DOE.
  • Growth Opportunity: Join a company in its early stages and help build its success from the ground up.
  • Equity: Opportunity to earn equity compensation.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: 100% company-paid medical premiums for employees, 401(k) match, and Flexible PTO.
  • Vibrant Culture: Catered lunches, happy hours, and team-building events.
  • Work-Life Balance: We offer marketplace discounts and maintain a culture that values the balance between work and adventure.
