A Company in the San Francisco area is seeking a highly skilled General Counsel to provide expert legal advice and support on a variety of legal and regulatory issues. As the General Counsel, you will play a vital role in managing the company's legal affairs, including risk management and dispute resolution. In addition to this, you will also be responsible for developing and implementing legal policies and procedures, as well as providing training to employees on legal and regulatory matters. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert legal guidance and support on a wide range of legal and regulatory issues, including corporate governance, contract negotiation, intellectual property, and compliance with laws and regulations specific to the auto fintech industry.
  • Managing the company's legal affairs, including risk management and dispute resolution.
  • Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures, and providing training to employees on legal and regulatory matters.
  • Negotiating and drafting contracts and other legal agreements, including customer and vendor contracts, employment agreements, and licensing agreements.
  • Monitoring developments in relevant auto financing laws and regulations (e.g., vehicle service contracts, insurance), and providing advice on compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
Qualifications:

  • J.D. degree from an accredited law school and admission to a state bar.
  • 7+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department.
  • 5+ years of experience in insurance or insurtech.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, contracts, intellectual property, and compliance with insurance-specific laws and regulations.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
