Applied Material's is currently seeking anImport Trade Operations Specialist located in Austin, TX. This position is part of our Legal and Compliance Organization.

As an Import Trade Operations Specialist, you will be a part of Applied's Global Trade Operations team with the key responsibility to ensure Applied's US business operations are conducted in compliance with customs regulations and import control laws in the most efficient and effective way possible. You will actively participate in the execution of import operations and the development of process improvements aimed to achieve operational excellence.

The Import Trade Operations Specialist works collaboratively with all lines of business, purchasing, logistics, service providers, suppliers, customs brokers, and government agencies to ensure compliance for the Company's import transactions. As such, the Import Trade Operations Specialist must have working knowledge of U.S. import laws and regulations.

In this role, youwill report to the Global Trade Operations Senior Manager.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and resolve import shipment issues working with internal and third parties such as freight forwarders, customs brokers and government agencies and possess the ability to determine when to escalate to management for resolution.
  • Identify process gaps/inefficiencies/improvements and implement solutions as aligned with management.
  • Review and resolve any data accuracy including valuation, country of origin, unit of measure, classification.
  • Interact with internal and third party to obtain any supporting documents for import clearance activity.
  • Ensuring import activities comply with government laws and regulations.
  • Define, enable, run and operate processes and systems as related to customs import controls.
  • Maintain processes, controls, record keeping and audit preparation regarding import entry.
  • Apply quality principles to identify process improvement opportunities, determine available options, implementation strategies and make recommendations to management.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Working knowledge of and experience with U.S. CBP, FTR laws and regulations and practical application in import compliance processes, procedures, and policies.
  • Understanding of PGA including FDA, USDA, EPA.
  • Ability to communicate with professionals and people of all levels of the organization and to operate effectively within a team environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and identify patterns and trends.
  • Proficient in excel, data analytics and visualization.
  • Well-developed organizational, priority management and planning skills.
  • Working knowledge of integrated logistics management.
  • Excellent communication and effective interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated customer focus with the ability to prioritize, problem-solve, and multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Keen attention to details and accurate in execution of any task.
  • Ability to work autonomously, with minimal direction, self-motivated and results driven.
  • Ability to work well in multidisciplinary teams and international environment.
  • Exhibits a high level of integrity and discretion.
  • At least 3 years of experience in related field.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Preferred experience in highly regulated, high-tech or semiconductor industry.
  • Professional Certificates, Licenses, Lean Six Sigma and Training a plus.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
