Job description

Job Title:         CTE AMAT Teacher                                               Wage/Hour Status:  Exempt

Reports to:      Campus Principal                                                      Pay Grade:   Teacher Salary 187 Days

Primary Purpose: 

To aid the principal, staff, and teachers in the instruction and organization of the Academy of Media Art and Technology. 

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Valid Texas teacher's certificate or such other credentials as may be required by the State Board for Educator Certification for this position.

            

Special Knowledge/Skills:

  • Strong organizational, communication, technology, and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of theories, models, and applications of creativity and higher order thinking skills
  • Ability to plan and conduct meaningful staff development

Experience:

At least three (3) years experience as a teacher and/or administrator.

Major Responsibilities and Duties

  1. Organize and arrange clinical rotations and internships for all students.
  2. Maintain and supervise Academy students while they are in the field.
  3. Develop and nurture relationships with the community, especially in the area of media art and technology.
  4. Arrange mentorships for each student who is in the Academy.
  5. Work with the principal and other staff to constantly upgrade our curriculum.
  6. Develop opportunities for Academy students to network with mentors, professionals, and other district personnel.
  7. Facilitate the instruction in the Academy
  8. Handle disciplinary matters, communications, and parental conferences for Academy students.
  9. Assist the principal and registrar with recruitment.
  10. Coordinate and facilitate off campus, on campus, and summer activities and educational experiences.
  11. Be a liaison to principal and the R.L. Turner High School staff and students.
  12. Provide staff development experiences for themselves and Academy staff to maintain program excellence.
  13. Provide positive publicity to the paper, monthly newsletter and other media to promote R.L. Turner High School and its Academies.
  14. Establish and maintain budgets and reliable accounting procedures.
  15. Assist in the writing of educational grants.
  16. Promote a positive and professional school/organizational climate through dealings with parents, teachers, and students.
  17. Work with individuals and committees on curriculum, instructional, and school improvement initiatives.
  18. Assist in the improvement of instruction by being aware of research, literature, and current developments in pedagogy.
  19. Assist in the improvement of instruction through supervision of instructional strategies.
  20. Assist in the development, implementation, and enforcement of attendance policies.
  21. Interpret district policies and administrative procedures to the district staff, the public, and interested parties.
  22. Remain current by reading professional literature, by attending professional meetings and conferences, and by discussing developments and problems of mutual interest with others in the field.
  23. Provide for a positive tone for school/community relations by fostering collaborative educational efforts among members of the total community.

Lifting: Occasional heavy lifting and carrying (up to 50 pounds)

Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional district-wide and statewide travel

Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress, Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data; coordinate district functions; 

Other:  Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures; Other duties as assigned
