Shipco Transport Inc., a leading international cargo transportation company, has an immediate opening at our CHI branch located in Franklin Park, IL for an experienced LCL Import Operations Coordinator.
We are looking for a candidate who is proactive, dynamic, highly motivated, reliable, and who understands and appreciates the importance of a team effort. The candidate should also possess the ability to 'think outside the box', and think and work outside their local market, and be aware of various time zones and regional norms for all parties involved.
Key Responsibilities
  • A minimum of 1-2 years of experience with LCL ocean import consolidations and operations is required, preferably from a NVOCC background. Candidate with VOCC or freight forwarder experience may also apply.
  • Candidate must be knowledgeable in all aspects of LCL ocean import cargo receiving, container load plan and stowage, equipment procurement, verification of marks, numbers, piece counts, destinations, hazardous information, and freight discrepancies.
  • Candidate must be equally knowledgeable with customer service and documentation requirements, including bills of lading, dock receipts, and manifests.
  • Reviewing, processing, and sending revised arrival notices when a manifest discrepancy report has been filed with the customer.
  • Outturn reports/ OS & D resolution.
  • Door delivery and Customs clearance handling.
  • Handling CFS tasks if needed. This includes CFS manifest with any required attachments, segregation, in/out, etc., and make sure charges are billed out.
  • Handling customers' requests on any cargo diversion requests.
  • Track & tracing on all inbound containers.
  • Monitor exams, hold containers, and arrange billing.
  • Claims handling.
  • Handling the LAX OPS mailboxes with the rest of the team, so emails get processed promptly.
  • A candidate with hazardous certification is preferred.
  • Candidate must be proficient in cargo utilization and loading, with an aptitude for cost analysis.

  • Strong data entry skills required.

  • Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines.
  • Works under immediate supervision.
  • Reports to the Operations Supervisor.
