Position Overview

We are seeking aBilingual Import Specialistfluent inJapanese, Chinese, orKoreanand Englishto join their New Jersey Branch. This role offers a direct-hire opportunity with competitive pay, excellent benefits, and the chance to contribute to the mission of promoting Asian cuisine and well-being.

As an Import Associate, you will provide administrative and logistical support to the Inventory Replenishment Division (IRD). Your responsibilities will include coordinating customs clearance, managing purchase orders, and ensuring smooth import operations in alignment with company protocols. KeyResponsibilities

Import Operations

  • Provide estimates and guidance on U.S. import processes via air, ocean, and truck shipments.
  • Coordinate customs clearance and arrange cargo deliveries from ports and airports to the facility.
  • Monitor and resolve import-related issues, including post-entry amendments and internal audits.
  • Maintain import data, verify its accuracy, and classify all entries.
  • Communicate with customs brokers to obtain tariff classifications, duties, and harmonized codes.
  • Prepare and process import-related documentation, such as shipping and payment invoices.
  • Support the distribution and purchase allocation manager with import-related projects.

Purchasing Coordination

  • Collaborate with the sales team to forecast and plan seasonal, sales, and import quantities.
  • Record and submit purchase orders for managerial approval.
  • Schedule shipments, track arrivals, and address any issues related to late, missing, or damaged goods.
  • Liaise with suppliers to gather pricing data, compare offers, and maintain contact information.
  • Maintain detailed purchasing records for budgeting and financial management purposes.
  • Support other related purchasing activities as required.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma required.
  • fluent in Japanese, Chinese, or Korean
  • Experience:
  • 1-3 years in an office environment.
  • Preferred: Experience as an assistant buyer, purchaser, or in import/export with freight forwarders or customs agencies.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of U.S. Customs and government agency regulations (preferred).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Organizational and time-management skills in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to use Oracle ERP systems and other software.

Working Conditions

  • Standard 40-hour workweek in an office environment; occasional overtime during peak periods.
  • May spend time in the warehouse to confirm product deliveries or visit off-site commercial locations.
