Reports To: Director of Import Logistics

Location: On Site in Savannah, GA

Summary

The Import Logistics Coordinator will have a strong background in international shipping regulations, values organization, and embraces effective collaboration with suppliers, carriers, and customs officials. This role is critical in managing and coordinating all aspects of our business's import process to ensure the timely and efficient delivery of goods to our distribution centers throughout the nation.

Essential Functions

  • Communicate with overseas offices, vendors, and shippers to manage import documentation and related matters, ensuring all shipments are successfully received at our distribution centers.
  • Negotiate freight costs to secure the best possible pricing and drive cost savings.
  • Follow current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Stay informed about government regulations, customs regulations, tariffs, and other international import compliance requirements.
  • Organize, validate, and upload shipping documents into NetSuite, including Packing Lists, Bills of Lading, and other import documentation, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • Verify that the correct duty rate is paid for all customs entries by confirming the accurate application of Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes and duty rates.
  • Generate shipping reports to track incoming freight data.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers and freight forwarders for Importer Security Filing (ISF), customs clearance, and freight release.
  • Communicate efficiently and effectively with internal departments and external business partners.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience with U.S. Customs compliance regulations and Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) code classification is preferred.
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations and make sound, independent decisions.
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member across multiple project teams while also working independently.
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.
  • Highly organized with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work across all U.S. time zones as well as overseas time zones as needed.
