Job description

We are seeking a skilled IIS Engineer to lead the modernization and stabilization of a diverse portfolio of IIS-hosted applications, ensuring they are secure, high-performing, and ready for the future.

What You''ll Do:

  • Modernize Legacy Applications: Drive the upgrade and stabilization of IIS-hosted applications, primarily built on .NET 2.0 / 3.5, ensuring smooth operation during and after migration.
  • Platform Upgrades & Migration: Lead IIS platform enhancements aligned with Windows Server 2025 migration plans to optimize performance and security.
  • Troubleshooting & Optimization: Resolve application performance bottlenecks, configuration issues, and availability problems with precision.
  • Application Rehosting & Configuration: Support rehosting initiatives and optimize IIS environments across ESXi and AWS EC2, enhancing scalability and efficiency.
  • Security & Compliance: Implement best practices to strengthen security, reduce web-layer vulnerabilities, and maintain compliance with industry standards.
  • Automation & Scripting: Develop and manage automation scripts for IIS provisioning, configuration, and deployment via CI/CD pipelines, increasing operational efficiency.
  • SSL/TLS & Site Migrations: Support secure communications through SSL/TLS configuration, manage bindings, app pools, and facilitate seamless site migrations.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Work closely with development and infrastructure teams to craft modernization strategies, while documenting standards and operational procedures for future reference.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Deep expertise in Microsoft IIS: Proven experience managing IIS versions 7.x through 10+.
  • Web Hosting & Application Support: Strong understanding of web hosting architecture, application pools, and bindings, especially for legacy .NET applications.
  • Windows Server & Compatibility: Experience supporting Windows Server upgrades and ensuring IIS compatibility.
  • Automation Skills: Proficiency with PowerShell scripting and automation to streamline operations.
  • Security Knowledge: Solid grasp of web security best practices, including OWASP guidelines, certificate management, and patching protocols.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Proven track record in transitioning applications to modern hosting environments or cloud-native architectures.
  • Experience building and deploying CI/CD pipelines for web applications.
  • Familiarity with reverse proxies, load balancing, or cloud services within web infrastructure.

Publishing Pay Range: $50.00 - $60.00 hourly
