Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Transplant Financial Coordinator, you will manage complex financial aspects of organ transplantation, guiding patients through costs and ensuring financial clearance. You serve as a crucial liaison between patients, insurers, and the transplant team.
Daily, you'll verify insurance, secure pre-authorizations, counsel patients financially, and assist with aid applications. Collaborating with the transplant team and payers, you'll streamline processes and resolve issues, fundamentally reducing financial barriers for transplant candidates.
Success demands a clear understanding of medical billing and coding. Exceptional analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, persuasive communication, and unwavering patient advocacy are crucial for navigating benefit plans, securing approvals, and supporting patients through this life-changing medical journey.

Job Requirements

Required

  • High school diploma or GED
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in outpatient group medical practice and/or inpatient acute care setting, with progressively increasing scope of administrative experience and responsibilities, including patient intake, medical terminology, CPT & ICD coding, third party payer referrals and authorizations, third party payer billing and reimbursement, and managed care experience
  • Knowledge of federal and state End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) financial and regulatory guidelines
  • Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills, the ability to communicate effectively
  • Proficiency in software applications 

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Proficiency in Medicare cost reporting, especially organ acquisition Medicare cost reporting; transplant administrative experience; IDX Billing Accounts Receivable (BAR), IDX Hospital Patient Accounts Billing System (HPA); Accredited Record Technician (ART) and/or Registered Record Administrator (RRA)
