Job description

Sugar Mama Desserts of Milpitas, California makes 100+ flavors of all-natural ice cream using the best ingredients sourced locally and globally. We have classic and unique ice cream flavors that range from Signature Strawberry with half a pound of organic strawberries in every pint to popular Black Sesame Brittle and refreshing Saffron rosewater pistachio. Our flagship store at Milpitas Square will have a rotating menu of seasonal, gourmet ice cream flavors made in-house and feature fresh-baked goods.

Requirements/Responsibilities

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Possess and maintain a friendly, positive attitude, especially during busy, stressful situations
• Show initiative, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work as part of a team
• Prior home baking experience is helpful
• Have a sense of Kitchen Hygiene and maintaining sanitary conditions while serving and preparing food
•Attentive to detail and a commitment to quality of all products served
•Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

MILPITAS STORE RESPONSIBILITIES
• Greet customers and offer samples
• Receive orders, scoop ice cream or prepare desserts, and serve customers in a positive, friendly manner while maintaining standards for correct portioning
• Act as brand ambassadors for Sugar Mama Desserts and ensure that customers are taken care of and promote store and catering events
• Prepare, cut, and bake ingredients for ice cream making and catering
• Make/bake treats not limited to cookies, hot cocoa bombs, and other desserts. Training is provided.
• Perform general cleaning (including restroom), dishwashing, and restocking of supplies.
CATERING RESPONSIBILITIES ( carpool to various locations from Milpitas store)
• Pack, load into the van, and unpack catering supplies in West San Jose
• Carpool to catering sites in S. Bay, Peninsula, SF, and East Bay and occasionally must provide own transportation to site (mileage reimbursed)
• Set up, serve, and break down the ice cream cart and sundae bar
• Provide warm friendly catering service
• Wash, and clean catering equipment after ice cream socials
SUNNYVALE FARMERS MARKET RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Sample, Sell, and Scoop Ice cream
• Set up and break down the booth
• Perform heavy lifting up to 40Ibs and stand 7-8 hours
• Regular access to car PREFERRED but not REQUIRED
• Must be able to work 3/4 Saturdays a month
REQUIREMENTS:
• Availability to work opening shifts (9:00 am - 5 pm) and closing shifts (4 pm - 10:00 pm on Weekdays) (4 pm- 11 pm on weekends)
• Any time off must be approved by a manager a minimum of 2 weeks before.
• Have a reliable form of transportation
• Able to work minimum 3 days a week.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 10 pounds to a maximum of 40 pounds.
• Employee must be able to work on their feet 7-8 hours per day as needed.

SALARY:
$17.20 - $17.40 hour plus earned tips
HOURS:
Part-Time or Full-Time
