Job description

Summary Statement

An incumbent is this class assists and supports the case management function by providing clerical assistance and routine services to clients such as transportation and appointment scheduling.\r\n

Selective Requirement

Selective Requirements must be met in addition to the job requirements. Applicants who do not possess the selective requirement will not be qualified:\r\n\r\n\r\n Must have a valid Driver's license.\r\n\r\n\r\n

Essential Functions

Essential functions are fundamental, core functions common to all positions in the class series and are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all job duties for any one position in the class. Since class specifications are descriptive and not restrictive, incumbents can complete job duties of similar kind not specifically listed here.\r\n\r\n Schedules appointments for clients and transports to required location (hospital, court, therapy session) provides coaching and assists client; provides support and encouragement to obtain desired outcome.\r\n \r\n Provides office and telephone coverage in absence of case manager and refers problem to appropriate party.\r\n \r\n Visits clients in a variety of environments such as home, school, observing behavior, and reporting to Case Manager.\r\n \r\n Prepares and maintains a variety of records and forms required by case manager to provide the necessary services to the client.\r\n \r\n Monitors behavior of child and parents on parental visits and insures safe interaction.\r\n \r\n May interview and obtain basic information from clients such as dates of birth or social security numbers of family members.\r\n\r\n\r\n

JOB REQUIREMENTS for Family Service Assistant I \r\nApplicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: \r\n\r\n Coursework, training and/or work experience in health or human services support such as interviewing clients and assessing personal, health, social or financial needs in accordance with program requirements or coordinating with community resources to obtain client services. \r\n\r\n\r\n

The recruiting agency may require the applicant to pay for the criminal background check as part of the conditional offer of hire.\r\nAs a condition ofhire you must possess a valid driver's license (not suspended, revoked or cancelled, or disqualified from driving).\r\nApplicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States. The State of Delaware Executive Branch participates in the Federal E-Verify system where the State will provide the federal government with each new hires Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S. For more information refer to our job seeker resources.\r\n\r\nThis position is a classification organized under an exclusive bargaining representative (labor organization) that has been elected by employees as their representative for collective bargaining and other applicableterms and conditions of employment, in accordance with Title 29, Chapter 59 and Title 19, Chapter 13 and 16. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement based on its individual terms.\r\nAll new hires are required to report to the Statewide New Employee Orientation (SNEO) on their first day of employment. Sessions are held at designated locations in Kent or New Castle County.\r\n
