Job description

We are looking for an experienced Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to support leaders and employees in Herndon, Virginia. This Long-term Contract position is suited for someone who can provide practical guidance, navigate sensitive workplace matters, and help managers make sound people decisions in a structured, compliance-focused environment. The ideal candidate brings strong business judgment, confidence working with leadership, and the ability to turn workforce insights into meaningful action.


Responsibilities:

• Partner with managers and department leaders to address employee relations matters, organizational challenges, and day-to-day people decisions.

• Advise leadership on HR policies, performance concerns, and workplace practices while ensuring alignment with employment guidelines and company standards.

• Conduct and support employee relations investigations with professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgment.

• Coach supervisors and leaders through performance management conversations, corrective actions, and development planning.

• Review workforce trends and talent-related data to identify risks, recommend solutions, and support informed decision-making.

• Facilitate HR processes and administrative activities that contribute to a consistent and well-managed employee experience.

• Communicate HR guidance clearly to non-HR stakeholders, translating complex requirements into practical next steps.

• Balance business needs with compliance expectations in a regulated or high-accountability setting while managing competing priorities effectively.

• Bachelor’s degree is required; an advanced degree or recognized HR certification is preferred.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in an HR Business Partner role or a closely related human resources position.
• Demonstrated success advising managers and director-level leaders independently on sensitive and complex people matters.
• Strong knowledge of employee relations, HR policy interpretation, performance management, and HR administration.
• Experience leading or supporting employee relations investigations with discretion and professionalism.
• Solid understanding of HR practices, employment compliance, and workplace standards.
• Ability to assess workforce or talent data and convert findings into actionable recommendations.
• Effective communication, coaching, and facilitation skills, with the ability to build trust across leadership and employee groups.
