THE POSITION
Join the Department of Transportation as a Custodial Worker 1 and become an important part of the Pike County team. In this role, you will help create a clean and safe environment for staff and visitors. Your work will support the daily operations of the maintenance office and surrounding grounds. This position is a great choice for someone who enjoys active work and takes pride in keeping facilities in top condition.
DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position helps maintain a clean, safe, and well-kept environment for the Pike County Maintenance Office and its grounds. It supports daily operations by completing routine cleaning tasks and caring for both indoor and outdoor areas. As a Custodial Worker 1, you will perform the following duties:
  • Indoor Cleaning: Clean floors, windows, furniture, restrooms, and fixtures to maintain a safe and tidy workspace
  • Outdoor Care: Maintain entrances and grounds by mowing grass, shoveling snow, sweeping walks, and keeping outdoor areas neat
  • Waste Removal: Dispose of waste materials properly to support cleanliness and safety
  • Minor Repairs: Perform basic repairs to plumbing, electrical systems, and building fixtures as needed
  • Team Communication: Coordinate daily tasks with supervisors and coworkers to complete assigned work
  • Public Courtesy: Maintain a professional and respectful attitude toward the traveling public

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Seasonal full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Schedule is subject to change due to weather/season; winter shifts - 4:00 AM to 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
