Job description

The Program Support Coordinator will be responsible for the clerical and/or data support functions of the review departments. This individual interacts with staff of assigned hospitals regarding notification of monitoring dates and review determination notifications sent to hospitals. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the clerical/data functions for an assigned group of hospitals.
  • Sort sample selection and provide notification of monitoring dates to hospitals.
  • Forward and track monitoring forms and information sent to hospitals for IPRO staff to utilize.
  • Conduct support review tasks as required - i.e. request charts, set up charts and forms for PRA/MRA and PC review, send and receive charts to review and physician consultants, send out pre-denial/final determinations and appeals, maintain files and hospital logs, prepare copies for distribution/mailing for retrospective reviews, cost outliers and special studies.
  • Responsible for typing physician consultant responses such as approved or denied cases at all levels when necessary as well as proofing of typing.
  • Screen telephone calls from hospitals for retrospective areas, cost outliers, special studies, PASRR and IPRA.
  • Maintain files and records of the department or of assigned/designated hospitals.
  • Assist team members to maintain adequate flow of department responsibilities.
  • Maintain consistent emphasis on customer satisfaction both internal and external to maintain a working quality system and continued improvement.

This position requires working on-site at the Jericho, NY office.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Computer proficiency with excellent typing skills. Basic knowledge of data entry functions.
  • Knowledge of correct grammar. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with a professional telephone etiquette and demeanor.
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with various levels of internal and external customers.
  • Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize work and work independently.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent, required. Some college or secretarial school (with a focus on medical terminology), preferred.
  • Two years of related experience.
