Job description

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Kforce has a client in Nashville, TN that is seeking a Data Engineer with exceptional SQL expertise and proven experience building scalable, complex data transformation pipelines. Snowflake experience is important, but deep, hands-on SQL mastery is the primary qualification. Candidates must be able to operate independently, support production-grade workflows, and deliver in a modern cloud data environment.
Responsibilities:
* Query performance, analytical functions, set-based operations, and data modeling techniques
* Translate business logic into efficient, maintainable SQL pipelines
* Dimensional modeling (star, snowflake, denormalized)
* Designing and optimizing complex transformation logic at scale
REQUIREMENTS:
* DE III: 7+ years of experience in data engineering
* DE II: 3-7+ years of experience in data engineering
* Advanced to expert-level SQL with a consistent track record of designing and optimizing complex transformation logic at scale
* Practical Snowflake experience working within an EDW or analytics environment
* Experience with Git-based workflows (GitHub preferred)
* Exposure to orchestration tools (Snowflake Tasks required; Airflow/MWAA nice to have)
* Strong grounding in data quality frameworks, automated validation, and testing
* Familiarity with: COPY INTO and Snowflake-native ingestion patterns; Snowflake Tasks for orchestration and scheduling
* Strong, clear communicator; able to simplify complex concepts
* Analytical thinker with a structured, methodical problem solving approach
* Comfortable working autonomously and engaging cross-functional teams
* Detail-oriented, proactive, and accountable with production systems
Preferred Qualifications:
* Hands-on Python for data processing and automation
* Familiarity with CI/CD patterns (GitHub Actions preferred)
* Experience with AWS (S3, Glue)
* Exposure to Airflow DAG development
* Experience in large, complex enterprise data ecosystems
* Background in SRE-style automation, monitoring, observability
* Healthcare data experience, including PHI/PII handling, claims lifecycle, and EDI 835/837 formats
The pay range is the lowest to highest compensation we reasonably in good faith believe we would pay at posting for this role. We may ultimately pay more or less than this range. Employee pay is based on factors like relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, location, performance, union contract and business needs. This range may be modified in the future.
We offer comprehensive benefits including medical/dental/vision insurance, HSA, FSA, 401(k), and life, disability & ADD insurance to eligible employees. Salaried personnel receive paid time off. Hourly employees are not eligible for paid time off unless required by law. Hourly employees on a Service Contract Act project are eligible for paid sick leave.
