You will set up, operate, and maintain CNC milling and turning equipment to produce precision tooling components, die parts, and metal forming assemblies that are central to everything we build. For over 95 years, Willett has delivered advanced metal forming solutions as a trusted partner to the metal packaging industry. As part of The Leonhardt Group, a family-owned German industrial enterprise, we serve as BLEMA's North American hub for engineering, service, and technical support. This is hands-on, high-precision work where your craftsmanship has a direct impact on the quality of the systems we deliver to our customers.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Perform first-article inspections and in-process quality checks using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, dial calipers, height gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM)
  • Edit, adjust, and optimize CNC programs to improve cycle times, surface finishes, and dimensional accuracy
  • Select appropriate cutting tools, speeds, feeds, and fixturing methods based on material type and part geometry
  • Monitor tool wear during production runs and replace or adjust tooling as needed to maintain consistent part quality
  • Perform routine machine maintenance including cleaning, lubrication, coolant management, and basic troubleshooting to minimize downtime
  • Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve machining challenges, suggest process improvements, and support new product development
  • Maintain accurate documentation of production data, inspection results, tool life records, and any deviations from standard processes

Qualifications and Skills

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC milling and/or turning equipment in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Fanuc or Siemens CNC controls
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings including GD&T per ASME Y14.5
  • Competence with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM)
  • Working knowledge of common metals and their machining characteristics (tool steel, stainless steel, aluminum, brass)
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

  • Experience with CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, or SolidCAM
  • Familiarity with tooling and die components, progressive dies, or transfer tooling
  • Journeyman certification or completion of a recognized machining apprenticeship program
  • Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis or 5-axis)
  • Manual machining skills (Bridgeport mill, engine lathe) as a complement to CNC work

Benefits and Perks

  • Hourly Pay: $36-$40ย per hour, based on depth of expertise and machine experience
  • 401(k) retirement plan with generous company match: 100% on the first 3% of your contributions, plus 50% on the next 2%
  • Medical insurance (Aetna), dental insurance (United Concordia), and vision insurance (National Vision Administrators)
