CNC Milling Machinist – Okuma Controls

Pay Range: $25 – $37/hour (based on experience)
Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced CNC Milling Machinist to join our team in Manchester, CT. This position is ideal for a machinist with strong experience operating and setting up 3-axis or higher CNC milling machines with Okuma controls.
We are looking for someone with a CNC production and setup background who can independently set up and run a 3-axis Hardinge CNC milling machine while maintaining tight tolerances and high-quality standards.
Our company designs and builds custom packaging machinery, and this role involves machining precision components used in specialized equipment manufacturing.
Key Responsibilities
Set up and operate 3-axis Hardinge CNC milling machines with Okuma controls
Perform complete machine setups including tooling, offsets, and work holding
Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
Machine parts to tight tolerances and quality standards
Perform tool changes, touch-offs, and minor program edits as needed
Inspect finished parts using precision measuring equipment including micrometers, calipers, and gauges
Troubleshoot machining and production issues when necessary
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and goals
Qualifications
3+ years of CNC milling experience required
Experience setting up and operating 3-axis or higher CNC milling machines
Experience with Okuma controls strongly preferred
Experience running Hardinge CNC mills is a plus
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
Strong understanding of machining processes, tooling, and setups
Experience holding tight tolerances in a production environment
Proficient with precision measuring tools including micrometers, calipers, and indicators
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
