Position Summary

The Host is the first and last impression of the SUZU experience. This role manages reservations, greets and seats guests, oversees the waitlist, and orchestrates dining-room flow with grace and warmth. The ideal candidate is welcoming, organized, composed under pressure, and genuinely excited to set the tone for every guest's visit.

Compensation

$13.00โ€“$15.00 per hour, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Reception & Hospitality

  • Warmly welcome and bid farewell to every guest, setting the tone for the experience
  • Create a gracious, polished, and memorable first impression
  • Accommodate special requests, occasions, and guest preferences whenever possible

Reservations & Seating

  • Manage reservations, walk-ins, and the waitlist using the reservation and POS systems
  • Seat guests thoughtfully to balance the dining room and server stations
  • Maintain accurate guest counts, table statuses, and turn times

Dining Room Flow & Communication

  • Coordinate seating and pacing with Servers, Managers, and the kitchen
  • Communicate VIPs, allergies, special occasions, and timing notes to the team
  • Help maintain a smooth, well-paced flow throughout service

Phone & Inquiry Management

  • Answer phones professionally and respond to guest inquiries and reservation requests
  • Provide accurate information about the restaurant, menu, and policies
  • Manage guest communication with discretion and care

Standards & Presentation

  • Maintain a polished, professional appearance and demeanor at all times
  • Keep the host stand and entrance area clean, organized, and welcoming
  • Follow all SUZU service standards and safety protocols

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of host or guest-facing hospitality experience (fine dining preferred)
  • Familiarity with reservation systems (e.g., OpenTable, Resy, Tock) a plus
  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Composure and professionalism in a fast-paced environment
  • Polished presentation and a genuinely welcoming personality
  • Willingness to learn Japanese hospitality standards
