Job description

Horizon Development, LLC. is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Superintendent to oversee the daily on-site operations for commercial construction projects. The Superintendent is responsible for following the schedule and overseeing subcontractors, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering projects on time and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops a schedule and costeffective plan for completion of an assigned project.
  • Coordinates and schedules the work activities of tradespeople, professionals, and laborers, communicating to and via project foreperson to deliver instructions and project assignments as appropriate.
  • Regularly inspects work for quality and timeliness; prepares and provides daily progress reports; makes recommendations for necessary modifications.
  • Ensures specifications and regulations outlined in architectural and engineering plans are followed.
  • Maintains records related to costs and inventory.
  • Addresses any safety violations or other deficiencies.
  • Identifies and proactively addressed potential delays, conflicts, or cost overruns
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Required Skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be willing to learn new skill sets.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to oversee and coordinate a variety of people in different roles.
  • Extremely detailoriented.
  • Ability to read, understand, and execute blueprints, drawings, and plans.
  • Thorough understanding of legal requirements relating to construction and building sites.
  • Thorough understanding of quality building practices.
  • Education and Experience
  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience in ground up construction is required.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to access and navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to work alongside crew with tools when needed.
