Under the direction of the Instructional Lead and the Director, this teaching position is responsible for instruction in American History, Government, and Economics, and other elective topics as needed to adult learners. Experience in teaching in a secondary education environment and demonstrated ability to foster student skills development using social studies content topics are essential.

Specifically, U.S. History curriculum falls within the capacity of the Social Studies Teacher's purview, focusing on the standards and skills to be successful on the US History EOC, as well as academic skills acquisition for adult learners.
Implement curricula and activities to meet State academic standards; Build lessons around assessed student needs and construct aligned learning evaluations.
Design and implement assessments that measure progress towards South Carolina academic
standards.
Track and analyze classroom data; Use assessment data to refine lesson delivery and
inform instructional practices to achieve learning goals.
Intentionally focus on student critical thinking and differentiate across ability levels.
Participate in collaborative lesson and curriculum development, and school-wide functions aimed at improving student retention, productivity, school culture, and new student orientation.
Communicate student progress effectively.
Collaborate with the Academic Success Coaches and the Leadership Team to support students'
progress towards graduation and post-secondary certifications and college credits.

Attend all team and professional development meetings.
Assist with new student orientation.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.

Bachelor's degree in subject specialty required, with a minimum of two (2) years' successful teaching experience preferred.
Current South Carolina Teaching Certification in subject specialty required.
Experience in working with high school age students within a non-traditional educational setting, and/or in an adult education setting highly preferred.
