What does it mean to hire an OPT student for a software engineer?

Hiring an OPT (Optional Practical Training) student for a Software Engineer position means employing an international student who is studying in the U.S. on an F-1 visa and is authorized to work temporarily in their field of study. OPT allows students to gain hands-on experience related to their academic program for up to 12 months (or up to 36 months for STEM graduates with an extension).
