Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Special Education Teacher to provide highly structured, individualized instruction to TK–8 students with extensive support needs, including students with significant problem behavior. This role emphasizes evidence-based instruction, collaboration with behavior and related service providers, and strong IEP implementation within a California Nonpublic School setting.

Requirements:

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Specialized Academic Instruction (SAI) aligned with IEP goals and student needs
  • Design, implement, and monitor academic and behavioral IEP goals
  • Collaborate with BCBAs to support Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and behavior intervention plans
  • Collect and analyze academic and behavioral data to guide instructional decisions
  • Implement positive behavior supports and crisis prevention strategies as trained
  • Participate in IEP meetings and collaborate with districts, families, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Train and support paraprofessional staff to ensure consistent instructional and behavioral practices
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with IDEA and California NPS requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Education Specialist Credential (Extensive Support Needs / Moderate–Severe preferred)
  • Experience working with students with significant support needs and challenging behavior
  • Strong skills in data-driven instruction, collaboration, and documentation

Preferred Qualifications

  • BCBA certification or training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
  • Experience in a nonpublic school or highly structured special education setting
  • CPI, Pro-ACT, or equivalent crisis intervention training

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

  • Classroom and school-based setting
  • Ability to assist students physically and implement approved crisis interventions as needed
