Job Summary
Are you an exceptional Special Education teacher dedicated to unlocking the potential of primary students with complex communication and developmental needs? Burlingame School District is seeking a specialized, fully credentialed Special Day Class (SDC) Teacher for our Highly Structured Primary SDC classroom.
Under the direction of the Site Administrator, you will provide specialized instruction and manage services for primary-aged students with moderate-to-severe, non-verbal needs.
?? Financial Incentives:
$5,000 Signing Bonus (Distributed over 3 years: $3,000 in '26/'27; $1,000 in '27/'28; $1,000 in '28/'29).
$2,000 Annual Stipend for ESN Credential holders teaching in our SDC programs.
Classroom Description & Core Focus:
Children in this Highly Structured Primary SDC class exhibit significant delays in one or more developmental areas, including language, cognitive, motor skills, or other neurological impairments. This classroom heavily emphasizes:
Providing tailored, specialized instruction based on individual student IEP goals.
Creating meaningful, strategic opportunities for inclusion with the general education population.
Maintaining consistent, compassionate, and open communication with parents and guardians.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
Design and implement specialized, standards-based instruction for a primary moderate/severe student population.
Manage individualized services and support plans, tracking data to ensure student growth and educational benefit.
Utilize specialized strategies to support non-verbal students, fostering a safe, predictable, and highly structured environment.
Collaborate with support staff, general education teachers, and administrators to facilitate inclusion opportunities.
