Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Structured Cabling Techs in Johnstown, OH. The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for the installation, termination, and testing of low-voltage cabling infrastructure in a commercial or industrial environment. This role requires a high level of technical proficiency in structured cabling systems and the flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights. Ideal candidates are local to the Johnstown area and possess prior experience working on IES Communications projects.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $20 to $26 Per Hour BOE

Responsibilities:

  • Install, route, and secure low-voltage cables including CAT5e, CAT6, and fiber optics in new construction or retrofit environments.
  • Install cable support structures such as J-hooks, cable trays, ladder racks, and innerduct systems.
  • Perform termination, labeling, and testing of various cable types to ensure compliance with TIA/EIA standards.
  • Build out telecommunications closets including the assembly and mounting of racks, cabinets, and patch panels.
  • Utilize testing equipment such as Fluke meters to troubleshoot and verify connectivity of newly installed systems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, and technical specifications to determine cable paths and hardware placement.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment by following site-specific safety protocols and OSHA standards.
  • Collaborate with lead technicians and project managers to ensure daily tasks are completed on schedule.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and system repairs on existing structured cabling networks.
  • Complete project documentation and reporting as required by the site supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a Structured Cabling Technician or in a related low-voltage field.
  • Flexibility to work both day and night shifts as project requirements dictate.
  • Must be a local candidate to the Johnstown, OH area.
  • Prior experience with IES Communications, LLC is highly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of universal communications color codes and TIA/EIA cabling standards.
  • Proficiency with basic hand and power tools required for cabling installation.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team-oriented construction or technical environment.
  • Strong attention to detail regarding cable dressing, labeling, and documentation.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to regularly climb and work from ladders up to 20 feet in height.
  • Ability to work in tight or confined spaces, such as crawl spaces or above ceilings.
  • Manual dexterity to work with small components and hand tools for precise terminations.
  • Must be able to distinguish different colors for cable identification.
  • Ability to work in environments with moderate noise levels and varying temperatures.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $20 to $26 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
