SPED Structured TEACH Teacher

Greenville ISD


Position Overview

Greenville ISD is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled SPED Structured TEACH Teacher to provide intensive, structured instruction and behavioral support for students with significant academic, behavioral, and/or emotional needs. This position supports students in a highly structured learning environment designed to promote academic growth, positive behavior, and successful reintegration when appropriate.


Primary Purpose

Plan, implement, and deliver specialized instruction and behavior supports in accordance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Texas Education Agency (TEA) requirements, and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) guidelines.


Qualifications

Education / Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with Special Education endorsement
  • Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements

Special Knowledge / Skills:

  • Knowledge of special education laws, procedures, and compliance requirements
  • Experience with behavior intervention plans (BIPs), functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and structured classroom models
  • Ability to implement evidence-based instructional and behavioral strategies
  • Strong classroom management and de-escalation skills
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills

Experience:

  • Experience working with students with emotional, behavioral, or developmental disabilities preferred
  • Experience in a structured or self-contained special education setting preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Instruction & Behavior Support

  • Develop and implement lesson plans aligned with TEKS and IEP goals
  • Provide structured, individualized instruction to meet diverse student needs
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans consistently
  • Collect and analyze data to track academic and behavioral progress

IEP & Compliance Responsibilities

  • Serve as case manager for assigned students
  • Ensure accurate and timely special education documentation in compliance with IDEA and TEA
  • Participate in ARD/IEP meetings and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams

Classroom Management & Safety

  • Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment
  • Use positive behavior supports and de-escalation techniques
  • Supervise students and ensure safety at all times

Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with instructional aides, specialists, administrators, and families
  • Provide guidance and direction to assigned paraprofessionals
  • Participate in professional development, PLCs, and required trainings

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent standing, walking, and movement within classroom
  • Ability to respond quickly in behavior-intervention situations
