Job description

Position Overview
Are you ready to launch your career in the construction industry with Helm? As a staff accountant, you will be in a position of responsibility for accounts payable, cash disbursements and certified payroll compliance. In addition, this position requires some cross training on other accounting department tasks including payroll. If you thrive in a dynamic environment where adaptability and teamwork are key, Helm offers the perfect opportunity for you to grow and succeed. This role is located in our Freeport, IL office.
Key Responsibilities
  • Enter and process accounts payable vendor invoices in the accounting system accurately and timely
  • Respond to and resolve vendor inquiries related to accounts payable
  • Monitor and follow up on invoice approvals to ensure timely processing and payment
  • Review and reconcile monthly vendor statements, identifying and resolving discrepancies
  • Review and verify checks prepared for weekly check runs to ensure accuracy and proper approval
  • Enter and process weekly union timesheets, ensuring accuracy and completeness of submitted hours
  • Review and validate union time entries for completeness and compliance with contract terms and payroll requirements
  • Prepare and submit certified payroll reports in compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Prepare and record daily bank deposits
  • A knowledge of Microsoft office products, primarily Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Good organizational skills, and time management skills
  • Good people skills and able to interact with a variety of personalities of vendors, customers, and employees
  • Works well in a team environment and is focused on customer satisfaction

Requirements
  • High School Diploma required
  • College degree preferred, but not necessary
  • 2-5 years accounting experience

Salary & Benefits
Range: $45,000-$65,000 annually.
