About Us: At Helix Community Schools, we are dedicated to supporting the academic growth and success of all students. We are currently seeking a compassionate and skilled Academic Interventionist to join our team and support students in need of additional academic assistance.

Position Overview: The Academic Interventionist will work closely with students, teachers, and school leadership to provide targeted support to students struggling academically. This role involves identifying learning gaps, providing individualized or small-group instruction, and collaborating with classroom teachers to implement effective interventions that enhance student learning outcomes. The ideal candidate will be passionate about helping students succeed, committed to ongoing professional development, and eager to make a positive impact on student achievement.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify students who need academic support in various subjects, including reading, math, and writing.
  • Provide individualized and small group intervention to students based on their unique academic needs.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement appropriate interventions, adjusting instruction as needed.
  • Monitor student progress through assessments, observations, and data tracking, adjusting intervention strategies accordingly.
  • Work with students to build academic skills, confidence, and motivation.
  • Support teachers in implementing classroom strategies to address students' academic challenges.
  • Provide guidance and resources to parents and guardians to support student learning at home.
  • Participate in regular meetings with educators and school staff to discuss student progress and refine intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and intervention outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Special Education, or related field (preferred not required).
  • Valid teaching certification (specific to LA preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of academic interventions, assessment tools, and differentiated instruction strategies.
  • Experience working with students who are at risk for academic failure or struggling in specific subject areas.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze student data and adjust instructional strategies accordingly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Education, Reading, or Special Education (preferred).
  • Experience as an academic interventionist, tutor, or in a similar educational support role.
  • Familiarity with Response to Intervention (RTI) models and other intervention frameworks.
  • Knowledge of educational technology and its application in intervention settings.
