Job Description SummaryThe AIS Heartbeat Lean, Senior Director is a high-impact, enterprise-level role responsible for leading critical Lean transformation initiatives across the Advanced Imaging Solutions (AIS) Segment. Reporting to the AIS Executive Lean Leader, this role serves as a strategic deployment leader, mobilized against the most critical business challenges, performance gaps, and strategic priorities.
This leader operates across innovation, commercial, integrated supply chain, and service to diagnose issues, stabilize performance, and deliver measurable business outcomes. Success in this role requires deep Lean expertise, strong business acumen, and the ability to lead cross-functional transformation efforts in complex, fast-paced, global environments.
The AIS Heartbeat Lean, Senior Director partners with senior executives, sub-segment leaders, and site leadership teams to accelerate results by driving Kaizen, building capability, and embedding the Heartbeat Business System into how the business operates. This role is accountable for delivering measurable improvements in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash, while modeling and reinforcing Lean culture across the AIS organization.

Key Responsibilities:

Enterprise Transformation Delivery

  • Deploy into highest-priority business challenges to drive rapid performance stabilization and breakthrough results
  • Lead end-to-end transformation initiatives from diagnostics through sustained execution
  • Deliver measurable improvements across Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash

Problem Solving & Performance Gap Closure

  • Diagnose performance gaps through deep genba engagement and data-driven analysis
  • Lead structured problem solving (A3, root cause) to eliminate systemic issues
  • Ensure clear ownership, actions, and follow-through tied to business KPIs

Kaizen & Flow Acceleration

  • Design and lead high-impact kaizen events and rapid improvement cycles
  • Improve flow, reduce lead time, and eliminate waste across value streams
  • Drive standardization and scalability of improvements across sites/functions

Heartbeat Business System Deployment

  • Accelerate deployment and maturity of the Heartbeat Business System
  • Embed:
    • Standard Work
    • Visual Daily Management Systems (DMS)
    • Problem Solving
    • Kaizen
    • Leader Standard Work
    • Strengthen operating rhythms

Strategy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri) Execution

  • Partner with business and functional leaders to translate strategic priorities into executable roadmaps
  • Align Kaizen roadmaps to Big Rock initiatives and KPI gaps
  • Ensure clear linkage between Lean initiatives and financial outcomes (growth, margin, cash)

Capability Building & Coaching

  • Coach leaders at all levels on Lean principles and execution discipline
  • Build sustainable internal capability - not dependency
  • Support Heartbeat Bootcamps and structured capability programs

Productivity Pipeline & Impact Delivery

  • Strengthen and execute a robust pipeline of:
    • Kaizens
    • DCWs
    • Productivity projects
    • Ensure visibility, rigor, and delivery against commitments

Enterprise & Strategic Initiatives

  • Lead or support enterprise-wide transformation efforts (e.g. CEO Kaizens, external engagements)
  • Partner with sub-segment, functional, and regional Lean Leaders to accelerate deployment of Lean initiatives and ensure consistency across the AIS Segment.
  • Demonstrate strong peer leadership, collaboration, and partnership across a highly matrixed, global organization.

  • 10+ years of experience in manufacturing, supply chain, operations, or Lean/operational leadership roles
  • 7+ years of deep Lean experience, including:
  • Strategy Deployment (Hoshin Kanri)
  • Problem Solving

  • Value Stream Mapping
  • Proven track record delivering cross-functional transformation with measurable results
  • Strong business acumen with ability to connect Lean to financial performance
  • Master's degree or MBApreferred
  • Proven ability to lead enterprise-level or segment-wide transformation initiatives
  • Excellent project management and execution skills with ability to manage multiple high-priority initiatives simultaneously
  • Demonstrated success influencing senior leaders and driving change in a matrixed global organization
