Job description

Silver Springs Care Home are looking for a Health Care Assistant to join the team, and be responsible for providing high-quality care to Service Users in-line with the highest regulatory standards.
General Responsibilities;-
  • To work as part of a care team providing high-quality care to Service Users.
  • Promoting and Safeguarding the welfare of Service Users.
  • To support the Service Users and ensure personal care tasks are carried out to enhance and support the independence of the Service User, in-line with their Care Plan(s).
  • Reviewing progress of care with the Service User, and reporting any signs of deterioration in physical and mental health appropriately.
  • Follow policies and procedures to maintain the highest standards of Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Measuring effectiveness of Service User's Care Plan(s) with interdisciplinary team; providing care improvement recommendations when required.
  • To carry out tasks in a way that will demonstrate respect for dignity and privacy, irrespective of the severity of disability or personal circumstances.
  • To liaise with other agencies involved with Service Users when required.
  • To respect the rights and choices of individuals.
  • Participate in audits, as requested and required.
  • Act in accordance with all legal requirements; fostering treatment practices and standards of care that comply to the values of the Home whilst observing governing regulations.
  • Attend and participate in supervision meetings and appraisals where required.
  • Comply with all respective company policies and procedures.
Personal Care Responsibilities;-
Health Care Assistants will undertake any tasks that have been identified in the Care Plan(s), which may include but are not limited to:
  • Assisting Service Users to mobilise in accordance with best Moving and Handling practices and Care Plan(s).
  • Assisting Service Users to maintain a good dietary intake of food and drinks, in accordance with training and Care Plan(s).
  • Undertake roles in relation to medication administration (this is role specific and must be carried out at the discretion of management and in-line with training, local standards and company policy).
  • Encourage Service Users to be as independent as possible with their personal care requirements.
Domestic Responsibilities;-
  • Undertake domestic tasks relevant to the role.
  • To ensure a clean and safe environment for Service Users and colleagues.
  • No formal qualification required, but RQF level 2 in Health & Social Care is desirable, or the willingness to undertake this qualification at the earliest possible convenience. For Health Care Assistants without RQF Level 2 in Health and Social Care, the Care Certificate will need to be completed.
  • Level 3 RQF medication unit is required for Health Care Assistants looking to undertake tasks involving medication administration.
  • Good literacy and numeracy skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
