About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Retail to lead the next phase of growth for our expanding retail organization (currently 4 stores) with sales growing at over 100% year over year for the past three years.

This is a senior leadership role responsible for the strategy, performance, and operational excellence of our retail business. The Head of Retail will oversee our current brick-and-mortar stores and retail teams while building the scalable systems and structure needed to drive revenue, profitability, and long-term growth. They will be responsible for ensuring that every location delivers an exceptional and consistent brand experience.

The right candidate is equal parts retail operator, sales leader, people developer, and strategist. You know how to translate ambitious company goals into store-level execution, hold teams accountable to measurable results, and create an environment where exceptional customer experience and strong sales performance go hand in hand; always leading by example.

In addition to overseeing the performance of our existing stores, the Head of Retail will play a key role in expanding our physical footprint. They will be responsible for identifying and evaluating new markets, scouting potential store locations, assessing foot traffic and neighborhood fit, and partnering with leadership on lease and expansion decisions.

This person will also own the development and evolution of our retail operating infrastructure, including training and onboarding programs, sales standards, playbooks, SOPs, performance frameworks, and store-opening processes. As we grow, they will ensure that new hires and new locations can be brought up to standard quickly and consistently.

What You'll Own
  • Own the overall strategy, performance, and profitability of the retail business.
  • Develop annual, quarterly, and monthly sales plans and translate company revenue goals into actionable store-level targets.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs
  • Analyze store performance and identify opportunities to improve revenue, profitability, productivity, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead new-store openings, market expansion, seasonal activations, and other retail growth initiatives.
  • Partner with executive leadership on longer-term retail planning, including new locations, organizational structure, and investment priorities.
  • Lead by example (candidate must be a fantastic sales person at heart).
  • Build a high-performance sales culture rooted in exceptional service, product knowledge, clienteling, and genuine customer connection.
  • Develop clear selling standards and ensure they are consistently executed across all locations.
  • Identify performance gaps quickly and create structured plans to address them.
  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable retail teams
  • Establish clear expectations for stores and create consistent systems for coaching, feedback, and performance evaluation.
  • Partner with People Operations on recruiting, onboarding, training, succession planning, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Ensure stores are appropriately staffed while balancing customer experience, employee development, and labor efficiency.
Retail Operations
  • Create and continuously improve scalable SOPs for store operations.
  • Maintain high standards across opening and closing procedures, cash handling, inventory management, merchandising, scheduling, loss prevention, safety, maintenance, and compliance
  • Ensure operational standards are consistently executed across every location.
  • Partner with Inventory and Operations teams to improve product availability, replenishment, stock accuracy, and inventory flow.
  • Develop systems that reduce administrative burden on stores and allow teams to spend more time serving customers.
Customer & Brand Experience
  • Ensure every store delivers a distinctive, memorable customer experience that reflects the brand.
  • Protect consistency in visual merchandising, styling, product presentation, service, and overall store environment through planograms.
  • Develop strategies that turn first-time visitors into repeat customers and brand advocates.
  • Partner closely with Marketing and E-Commerce to create a connected experience across physical and digital channels.
  • Translate customer feedback and frontline insights into actionable improvements across the organization.
  • Provide executive leadership with clear, actionable reporting on retail performance, opportunities, risks, and priorities.
  • Develop forecasts and performance analyses to support strategic decision-making.
  • Communicate effectively across departments and ensure retail priorities are aligned with broader company objectives.
  • Serve as the senior advocate for the retail organization while maintaining a company-wide perspective.
What We're Looking For
  • 10+ years of progressive retail leadership experience, with significant experience overseeing multiple locations.
  • Demonstrated success managing a high-growth and/or multi-unit retail organization.
  • Experience leading and developing retail teams.
  • Strong commercial instincts and a proven ability to drive revenue and improve store-level profitability.
  • Deep understanding of retail KPIs and the ability to use data to diagnose problems and drive decisions.
  • Strong operational discipline with experience building scalable processes and standards.
  • Exceptional coaching, communication, and people-management skills.
  • Ability to balance empathy with accountability and confidently manage difficult performance conversations.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with Marketing, E-Commerce, Inventory, Operations, Finance, and People teams.
  • Comfortable operating in an entrepreneurial environment where priorities can evolve quickly.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly between retail locations is a requirement.
Ideal Experience
  • Experience in one or more of the following is highly desirable: Fashion, jewelry, accessories, beauty, lifestyle, or experiential retail
  • High-growth founder-led brands
  • New-store openings and geographic expansion
The Person We're Looking For

You are a leader who can walk into a store and immediately understand what is working, what isn't, and what needs to change.

You are comfortable moving between high-level strategy and the realities of the sales floor. One day you may be presenting a retail growth plan to leadership; the next, you may be coaching a store employee, evaluating a customer interaction, reviewing scheduling efficiency, or helping prepare a new location for opening. And you can show everyone how to sell, set the tone and lead by example.

You set a high bar, communicate expectations clearly, and follow through. At the same time, you understand that strong retail organizations are built through trust, coaching, recognition, and developing great people, not simply managing numbers.

Above all, you are excited by the opportunity to build: better sales associates, stronger stores, scalable systems, and a retail organization capable of supporting significant growth.

The pay range for this role is:

150,000 - 200,000 USD per year (Langhorne PA)
