Summary:

IJW Whiskey Company, LLC (IJW) is a dynamic, fully integrated spirits company. Founded in 2017, we’ve compiled the largest independent library of aged Kentucky bourbon and rye and established a global presence including offices in Beverly Hills, Louisville and Tokyo, Japan, a 40-acre campus in Danville. Our ambitious growth trajectory includes a new whiskey distillery in Shelbyville, KY, slated for completion in early 2026, and a Japanese distillery in Chitose that that will be completed in late 2026.

With over 100 years of combined industry expertise, our diverse team of seasoned professionals and dynamic newcomers has propelled IJW to the forefront of the spirits industry. Our strategic partnership with one of the nation's largest independent Wine & Spirits distributors has enabled us to offer 22 products across four unique private label bourbon brands in 28 states. We have added to our spirits portfolio with our first Tequila and Mezcal brands.

Position Overview:

The EHS & Security Manager is accountable for the full ownership, execution, and enforcement of sitewide EHS programs and regulatory compliance across IJW operations, ensuring a safe work environment and protecting personnel, assets, and operational continuity. The role executes sitelevel security measures as directed by the Global Head of Security.

Job Responsibilities:

Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS)

  • Lead site-wide EHS initiatives aligned with corporate and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA, TTB, NFPA, etc.).
  • Conduct risk assessments, safety audits, and incident investigations.
  • Develop, deliver, and enforce required EHS training for employees, visitors, and contractors.
  • Manage hazardous materials handling, waste management, and sustainability initiatives.
  • Maintain emergency response plans and coordinate drills across all departments.
  • Track, analyze, and report EHS performance metrics and drive continuous improvement.

 

Compliance & Reporting

  • Serve as the primary site liaison for regulatory agencies, inspectors, and auditors.
  • Prepare and submit required regulatory reports accurately and on time.
  • Maintain complete, auditready documentation for permits, inspections, incidents, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and implement required updates to maintain compliance.

 

Security Management

  • Implement, execute, and enforce site-wide security measures as directed by the Global Head of Security.
  • Ensure the safety and security of employees, visitors, property, facilities, equipment, inventory, and other assets through enforced physical security and access controls.
  • Coordinate security response with local law enforcement and emergency services as required.
  • Identify, document, and escalate security risks or execution gaps.
  • Support security investigations, incident response, and required documentation.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in EHS and/or security management, preferably in spirits and manufacturing industries.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and other relevant standards.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and influence safety culture at all levels.
  • Strict attention to detail, well organized, ability to prioritize tasks, integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

Preferred Certifications

  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP).
  • OSHA 30-Hour Certification.
  • First Aid/CPR Instructor.
  • Physical Security Professional (PSP) or similar.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing or sitting at a desk and working with a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds at times. 
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities, climb stairs, and work at heights.
  • Must be able to work in areas that are not climate controlled.
