I'm sorry, but 'Element' is not a recognized real-world professional occupation, so I cannot provide a relevant answer.

What does a typical day look like for an element analyst in a materials science laboratory?

A typical day for an Element Analyst involves conducting precise chemical analyses to determine the elemental composition of samples using techniques such as spectroscopy or chromatography. You'll spend time preparing samples, calibrating instruments, recording data, and interpreting results. Collaboration with other scientists and lab technicians is common, as you'll often discuss findings and contribute to research projects or quality control processes. Attention to detail and adherence to safety protocols are critical, given the complexity and sensitivity of the analyses performed.

Head of Element Pay - General Manager, Element Pay | Element Mobility

Autofleet

San Francisco, CA • On-site

Full-time

Job description

Element is the world's largest publicly traded, pure-play automotive fleet
manager, operating across North America, Australia, New Zealand and Ireland -
helping the world's largest fleets acquire, operate, maintain and remarket their
vehicles.
Element Pay is our fintech business, and one of the most significant growth bets in the company. Fleets
move billions of dollars a year through fuel, tolls, violations, maintenance and service spend - most of it
still running on physical cards, manual reconciliation and processes designed decades ago.
With our acquisition of Car IQ, we now own market-leading vehicle-initiated payments technology that lets
a vehicle authenticate and transact directly with a merchant, without a card or a PIN. Element Pay brings
that technology together with Element's scale, distribution and client relationships to build the leading
payments platform for fleets - starting with fuel, and extending into tolls and violations, maintenance,
connected-vehicle services and new fintech products beyond.
We are looking for a Head of Element Pay to build and scale that business. This is a true general
manager role with end-to-end P&L ownership, leading product, engineering and business teams, and
reporting directly into Element's leadership team. The business unit is expected to generate nine figures
in revenue within two years.
Think of it as building a fintech inside a large, established company - with the ambition and pace of a
startup, and the balance sheet, client base and distribution of a global market leader.
Who we're looking for:
We are particularly interested in former founders, and in operators and product leaders who have built
inside high-growth startups where the pace is relentless and the org chart is thin.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will have real teams and real scale, but we are not looking for a
pure people manager. We want someone in the weeds - in the product reviews, in the customer calls, in
the numbers - actively driving the work rather than managing others who do it. If your instinct when
something is broken is to go fix it yourself, this is the right role. If it is to schedule a meeting about it, it is
not.
What you'll do:
• Own the Element Pay P&L end to end - revenue, unit economics, cost structure, investment
decisions and growth targets.
• Set the strategy and roadmap for the platform: where we build, where we buy, where we partner,
and what we launch next.
• Lead a cross-functional organization spanning product, engineering, commercial, operations and
go-to-market.
• Scale Car IQ's vehicle-initiated payments technology across Element's client base, and integrate
it into the broader fleet management ecosystem.
• Expand the platform beyond fuel into tolls and violations, maintenance and service payments,
connected-vehicle products and new fintech applications.
• Build and own the partnership ecosystem - merchant and fuel networks, issuers, processors,
OEMs and technology partners.
• Win in a fast-moving, well-funded competitive market - and define what makes Element Pay
structurally different.
• Build the team - hire, develop and retain the product, engineering and commercial leadership
this business needs to scale.
• Represent Element Pay to the executive team, the board and the market.
What you'll need:
• 10+ years of experience, including full P&L ownership of a business unit or company.
• A track record of scaling a product or business line from early revenue to significant scale -
ideally to nine figures.
• Deep payments or fintech experience, and a working understanding of how payments
infrastructure, economics and risk actually operate.
• Experience leading product and engineering organizations, not only commercial teams.
• Founder experience, or a track record of operating in high-growth startup environments - a
strong advantage.
• Comfort building something new inside a large organization - the judgment to know when to use
the parent company's scale and when to move independently of it.
• Strong commercial instincts: pricing, partnership structuring and negotiation with sophisticated
counterparties.
• Excellent executive communication, and credibility with both engineers and boards.
• Experience in fleet, mobility, automotive or adjacent B2B markets - an advantage.
