Hotel Maintenance Technician
Come be a part of our team at the newest upscale hotel near Citi Field in Flushing at Tangram! Renaissance New York Flushing Hotel is the anchor to a 4-phase complex called Tangram, positioned to be the epicenter of Flushing, Queens, and spanning two city blocks. The 208-room hotel sits atop an 8-plex 4DX cinema and is flanked by high-end condominiums with a retail center including nearly 30 Asian style restaurants, beer garden and an expansive 5,000 sq ft fitness center with an Olympic-sized pool. Guestrooms feature a streamlined aesthetic with vibrant details like hand drawn wall coverings in the foyer, plus refrigerators, rain showers, and 55" articulating LCD TVs. VIP guests receive access to the hotel's Club Lounge, serving light snacks and a cozy place to unwind. The hotel in Flushing, Queens, NY offers free shuttle service to La Guardia Airport, and easy access to the 7 train. Prime Met, the hotel's rooftop restaurant, is a fusion of Asian flavor and western steakhouse, and features a whiskey bar and a sake bar. Explore Tangram and be at the center of it all.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the physical operations of the hotel to ensure the total comfort and satisfaction of hotel guests.
โ†’ Check and perform major repairs to refrigeration, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, plumbing, water treatment, and electrical systems.
โ†’ Communicate with hotel departments to become aware of maintenance needs and ensure timely response to requests, e.g., Housekeeping Department for laundry/housekeeping equipment and room repairs and the Guest Service Department for kitchen equipment and various guest concerns.
โ†’ Execution of the hotel's preventive maintenance program.
โ†’ Maintain standards of product quality for all areas of the hotel as outlined in the standards manual and reports deficiencies to the Chief Maintenance Technician.
โ†’ Maintain a "can do" and a "guests first" attitude at all times.
โ†’ Work as a member of the overall hotel team to ensure that each guest has an experience that exceeds their expectations
โ†’ Resolve guest complaints to the satisfaction of the guest; responding promptly to any guest request for service.
โ†’ Arrive at work in a timely fashion in accordance with the posted schedule.
โ†’ Abide by established uniform guidelines.
โ†’ Attend scheduled training sessions within the hotel as dictated by the brand and hotel management.
QUALIFICATIONS
โ†’ Must have schedule flexibility for AM/PM/Overnight, weekends and holidays
โ†’ Education: Two (2) years of college or vocational training in electrical or mechanical engineering or plumbing
โ†’ Experience: Minimum of three (3) years experience in a building maintenance department, including one year in a supervisory capacity. Hotel experience a plus
โ†’ Certification: Preferred, but not required: Journeyman's accomplishment in one of the trades.
Skills:
โ†’ Specialized technical crafts: electrical, HVAC, plumbing, etc.
โ†’ Ability to problem-solve and multi-task
โ†’ Read, write, and understand English
โ†’ Ability to read blueprints
โ†’ Intermediate to advanced mathematical skills including basic math, conversions, and measurement such as weight, volume, and pressure.
โ†’ Ability to Carry and/or lift at least 50 pounds or more and push and/or pull approximately 200 pounds
