About the Role

Equitable is looking an influential and dynamic Leader to join our team!  The Employee Benefits Head of Claims will own the claims operational strategy and execution for Equitable's Employee Benefits claims organization. Reporting directly to the Head of Employee Benefits, this role is pivotal in ensuring efficient and effective processing of claims, compiling with regulatory standards and catering to the diverse needs of our clients.

This individual must be able to translate Employee Benefits' "Powerfully Simple" vision into into actionable, quantitative and innovative plans, including leading the design, ideation and build of the Employee Benefit's new claims organization and processes.  This position may be Flexible, a few days per week in the office or Remote plus travel. 

What You'll Be Doing

  • Strategy: Create and execute on Employee Benefit's overall claims operational strategy, including both the ideation and implementation the organization's new claims experience.

  • Implementation: Ensure the timely deployment of technology and processes in support of the both the initial build of a claims systems and ongoing enhancements.

  • Claims Processing: Oversee the processing of claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Continuous Improvement: Leverage client feedback and monitor industry trends, adjusting claims practices and model as needed to drive efficiencies and improve the client experience.

  • Customer Service: Maintain high standards of customer service and support in all claims-related interactions.

  • Compliance & Risk Management: Manage risks related to claims processing, including adherence to internal guidelines and standards as well as legal and regulatory standards

  • Leadership: Lead and manage a robust claims organization, including attracting and retaining top industry talent from across all areas of the business and fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.

  • Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with internal departments, external vendors, and other key stakeholders to execute a market-leading claims strategy

  • Perform other duties as assigned

This position offers a flexible work schedule: it may be fully remote/hybrid. If you are located near one of our offices (e.g., Charlotte, NC; New York, NY; Syracuse, NY), a hybrid schedule with 2-3 days on-site per week is expected to foster collaboration and connection.  The remote work schedule allows you to stay fully engaged with your team with periodic office visits based on business needs. 

The total targeted compensation range for this position is $360,000 - $470,000. Total compensation and base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities. Eligibility for these programs depends on level and functional area of responsibility.

What You Will Bring

 

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related Field

  • 10 years of experience in claims management, preferably in the employee benefits space

  • Working Knowledge of claims regulatory guidelines and standards

  • 5 years of people management experience with excellent leadership and team management abilities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Strong understanding of technology and industry trends

  • Proven track record of innovative problem solving

  • Strong verbal, written communication and presentation skills and ability to collaboratively problem-solve

  • Comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity and be able to explore multiple solutions to a problem

  • Strategic visionary who develops, communicates, and most importantly executes a compelling market-based vision for the future

Customer Experience Management: Knowledge of customer experience management; ability to implement strategies and techniques used to ensure that customers have a positive experience with the organization's products and services at every touch point.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Leadership: Knowledge of leadership practices and processes; ability to use strategies and skills to enlist others in setting, embracing and achieving objectives while having a long-term perspective of the future state of things and how to get there.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.

Product and Vendor Evaluation: Knowledge of product and vendor evaluation; ability to implement processes for the evaluation and selection of products, tools, services and infrastructure components ensuring they are in line with an organization's business needs and architectural principles.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
