As Abbott accelerates its digital transformation strategy, partnerships, ecosystem development, and inorganic growth will be critical to expanding the Digital Health Solutions portfolio and establishing AlinIQ as the leading digital platform for modern laboratories and healthcare systems.

Position Summary

The Global Head, Business Development, Partnerships & Inorganic Growth is responsible for driving worldwide growth of Abbott's Digital Health Solutions portfolio through strategic partnerships, channel expansion, acquisitions, investments, licensing, and ecosystem development. This leader will define and execute the global strategy to expand recurring digital revenue, increase customer lifetime value, and accelerate portfolio growth through a combination of organic and inorganic initiatives. The role partners closely with Commercial, Product Management, R&D, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Development to identify, evaluate, acquire, integrate, and commercialize capabilities that strengthen Abbott's digital healthcare position.

The ideal candidate combines deep digital health, commercial, and strategic partnership expertise with a proven track record in M&A, corporate development, ecosystem building, and growth strategy execution.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Growth & Portfolio Expansion

  • Develop and execute the global growth strategy for Digital Health Solutions, leveraging partnerships, channels, investments, licensing, and acquisitions.

  • Identify new revenue streams and business models that increase recurring digital revenue and customer lifetime value.

  • Build and maintain a multi-year inorganic growth roadmap aligned with Abbott's Digital Health Solutions strategy.

Inorganic Acquisitions & Corporate Development

  • Lead identification, evaluation, prioritization, and business justification of acquisition, investment, and partnership opportunities.

  • Develop acquisition theses, market maps, target screening frameworks, and strategic assessments to strengthen the AlinIQ portfolio.

  • Partner with Corporate Development to conduct due diligence, valuation support, commercial assessments, transaction execution, and integration planning.

  • Lead commercial integration of acquired businesses, technologies, and capabilities to maximize revenue synergies and portfolio value.

  • Evaluate strategic investments, venture partnerships, licensing opportunities, OEM relationships, and technology acquisitions.

Partnership & Ecosystem Development

  • Define and lead Abbott's global digital health partnership strategy.

  • Establish relationships with laboratory and hospital information system providers, cloud and AI vendors, automation partners, analytics companies, healthcare technology firms, and regional digital health integrators.

  • Structure and negotiate strategic alliances, co-development agreements, revenue-sharing partnerships, licensing agreements, OEM arrangements, and channel partnerships.

  • Manage partner performance, governance, and long-term value realization.

Commercial & Go-to-Market Leadership

  • Own the global partnership and channel go-to-market strategy for Digital Health Solutions.

  • Drive co-sell, joint solution, and ecosystem commercialization models across regions.

  • Influence pricing, packaging, monetization, and lifecycle value strategies for digital offerings.

  • Support regional commercial organizations in expanding digital adoption and recurring revenue growth.

Customer & Market Leadership

  • Engage senior healthcare executives, laboratory leaders, and health system decision-makers to understand evolving market needs.

  • Monitor competitive dynamics, emerging technologies, digital health trends, and acquisition opportunities.

  • Position Abbott as a leading innovator in laboratory informatics, workflow automation, analytics, AI-enabled diagnostics, and digital health solutions.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate across Commercial, Product Management, R&D, Service, Finance, Legal, and Corporate Development teams.

  • Provide commercial and strategic input into roadmap prioritization, partnership investments, and acquisition decisions.

  • Ensure compliance with Abbott policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Accountability & Scope

  • Reports to the Divisional Vice President, Digital Health Solutions.

  • Global responsibility and ownership of Digital Health Solutions commercial partnerships, and inorganic growth strategy.

  • Leads cross-functional teams through influence in a highly matrixed global organization.

  • Primary commercial leader responsible for partnership value creation, strategic investments, acquisition business cases, and ecosystem development.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • MBA, master's degree, or equivalent advanced degree preferred.

Experience

  • 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare technology, diagnostics, digital health, software, medical devices, or healthcare IT.

  • Demonstrated success scaling software, services, or digital businesses with significant recurring revenue responsibility.

  • Proven experience leading strategic partnerships, alliances, channel programs, and ecosystem development.

  • Significant experience in mergers & acquisitions, corporate development, venture investments, business development, or strategic portfolio expansion.

  • Track record evaluating acquisition targets, conducting commercial diligence, building investment cases, and delivering successful integration outcomes.

  • Experience identifying and executing inorganic growth opportunities that accelerate portfolio expansion and market leadership.

  • Strong understanding of healthcare informatics, digital health platforms, cloud solutions, AI-enabled healthcare technologies, and laboratory workflows.

  • Experience operating globally across North America, Europe, and Asia within large matrixed organizations.
