About the Job

Theย HSE Advisorย for our America Projects plays a crucial role in drivingย HSEย excellence and fostering a safety-focused organizational culture.ย  Working with a strong HSE Team basedย on the project site as well as the project office in Houston, you will be a key focal point forย HSE teams,ย Constructionย Managers, Project Managers,ย andย externally for clients andย subcontractors.ย ย 

In this role, you will help the project site HSE Manager, and project teams to manageย theย overallย reduction ofย risk inย complex projects within a matrix organization.ย ย 

Responsibilitiesย 

  • Implement andย maintainย a strong compliance culture accordingย to the TENย Global Standards, all applicable regulatory requirements, and industry best practicesย ย ย 
  • Help provide education, training and compliance support with HSEย teams to Engineering, Construction, Commissioning and Startup, Operations, Legal, Contracts, Procurement, Management, and other functions regardingย HSEย program executionย ย 
  • Support the integration and execution of HSEย requirements into planning documents, design criteria, construction and commissioning plans, schedules, and subcontract documentsย ย 
  • Conductย HSE assessments/inspections/site safety walks of project construction activities toย monitor compliance withย HSE requirements including contractual commitments, laws and regulations, and the project'sย HSEย planย ย 
  • Fostersย working relationships withย keyย stakeholdersย to address challenges and drive the HSEย cultureย ย 
  • Serves as member of theย incident management teamย providingย guidance to HSE management teams to reduceย risk andย company exposureย ย 
  • Participate in investigation of incidents, accidents, and near misses,ย identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrenceย 
  • Participate in meetings with customers, team members, and contractors / subcontractors toย adviseย them onย HSEย requirements andย progress ofย Key Performanceย Indicatorsย ย 
  • Complete internal process toย maintain ISO certifications.ย  Support andย participate in internal and external audits as needed for ISO 14001 and 45001 certificationsย 
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to enhance HSE awareness and competenciesย 
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety and environmental practicesย to help elevate people engagement and a positive safety culture
  • Engage with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and external partners to stay informed about best practices and emerging trendsย ย 
  • Stay informed about emerging HSE regulations, trends, and best practices, and recommendย appropriate actions to ensure compliance and improve HSE performance.ย 
  • Help prepare and present regular reports to senior HSE and Project management on HSE performance, initiatives, and areas forย improvement.ย 
  • Collaborate with HSE Team to utilize third-party databases, e.g., ISN, Avetta, that house statistics, safe work practices, and documents related to clients/potential clients.ย ย ย 
  • Support HSE Team forย managing the HSE Training Matrix, including help with annual review of project's HSE Plans,ย HSEย programs and compliance to theย Global HSE Policy related toย training.ย ย 
  • Help develop, review and implement project documents, e.g., HSE Site Plans, ERPs, Site Manuals, Journey Management, etc., as needed.ย 
  • Contribute and oversee support to Tendering in completing HSE questionnaires and requested documents and statistics. Work with Subcontracts to prequalify potential subcontractors. ย Review and approve subcontractor HSE programs prior to mobilization.ย 
  • Seek opportunities for Risk Reduction Projects to reduce risk in various project phases.ย 
  • Promote andย participate in corporate Sustainability initiatives, e.g., training, volunteering, etc.ย

About You

We'd love to hear from you if your profile meets the following essential requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety or a technical field or 10 years of equivalent industry experience in-lieu of a degree
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associated Safety Professional (ASP) or equivalent preferred, not required
  • Ability to influence within a matrixed organizationย 
  • Possess a strong understanding of construction safety and operational safety
  • Expertise in understanding and interpreting regulatory policies which include Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Fire Protection Agency (NFPA), or Electrical Code (NEC) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)ย 
  • Strong leadership and team collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and inspire across all levels of the organization including subcontractorsย 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environmentย ย 
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Action oriented and self-directed; good organization and project management skillsย 
  • Proven experience in site auditing, assessment, and coachingย 
  • Training and experience in incident investigation (Cause and Effects Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, 5-Why's)ย 
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)ย 
  • Proficiency in HSE management software and Microsoft Office Suiteย 
  • ISO 14001/OHSAS 18001/ISO 45001 experience recommendedย 
  • Bilingual helpful, not requiredย 

This role generally follows a Monday-Friday schedule; however, as a project-based position, it requires flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and overtime as needed to support construction execution, key milestones, and critical site activities.ย
