Job description

Auria is looking to hire a Software Developer to support the development of the Command-and-Control System (CCS-C) Sustainment and Resiliency (C-SAR) for current and future satellites. The ideal candidate will work on backend services and integration frameworks using Java, C++, and Python, contributing to secure, scalable, and mission-critical DoD systems. This position will be onsite located in Colorado Springs, CO.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO DO:
  • Design, develop, test, and deploy backend services, APIs, and system components using Java, C++, and Python.
  • Collaborate closely with frontend developers, systems engineers, DevSecOps teams, and testers to ensure high-quality integration and delivery.
  • Develop software components that interact with satellite ground systems, network management interfaces, and secure communications protocols.
  • Optimize system performance and reliability through well-structured code, profiling, and debugging.
  • Support secure coding practices and ensure compliance with DoD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles, including sprint planning, daily scrums, and retrospectives.
  • Support peer code reviews and contribute to system design decisions focused on functionality.
WHAT THE TEAM REQUIRES:

  • U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain a U.S. Government SECRET security clearance (existing clearance preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline and 3-4 years of experience.
  • Strong development experience with Java, C++, and Python in Linux-based environments.
  • Experience developing RESTful APIs, secure data exchange (e.g., JSON/XML), and service-oriented architectures (SOA).
  • Familiarity with build systems (e.g., Maven, Gradle, CMake) and version control tools (e.g., Git/GitHub).
  • Proficient in backend testing methodologies and frameworks (e.g., JUnit, PyTest, Google Test).
  • Experience working in an Agile framework.
  • Strong debugging skills and experience using tools such as GDB, Valgrind, or performance profilers.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills within Agile development teams.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
WHAT THE TEAM PREFERS:
  • Experience with the Satellite Control Network (SCN) and SATCOM command and control (C2) systems, products, and interfaces.
  • Knowledge of secure communication protocols, encryption, and authentication mechanisms.
  • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, Nexus).
  • Prior experience contributing to large-scale government software programs or defense acquisitions.
PAY TRANSPARENCY: The salary offered will be based on the selected candidate’s qualifications - skills, education amp; experience - and the position level. $75,000 - $100,000.
