Job description

Regional Recruiter โ€“ Northern California Recruitment

The Regional Recruiter will primarily be responsible for undergraduate student recruitment in Northern California, including the Pacific Northwest states. They will focus on recruitment travel within their assigned territory and review applications for other regions in the collegeโ€™s primary markets.

Responsibilities
  • Represent Virginia Tech at college fairs, high school visits, CBO and IEC presentations, spring college nights, college summer camps, and other recruiting events.
  • Evaluate assigned applications and aid in the yield of admitted students.
  • Maintain extensive personal contact with prospects, parents, counselors, and other educational professionals via inโ€‘person meetings, phone calls, email, and social media.
  • Arrange offโ€‘campus recruitment and yield programs and receptions.
  • Manage or coโ€‘manage programs that contribute to the overall success of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, such as Alumni and Parent Admissions Events, CBO Outreach, Counselor Luncheons, Counselor Tours, and social media campaigns.
  • Attend training, updates, and onโ€‘campus programs, including 4โ€“6 trips to Blacksburg.
  • Work independently and as part of a team, building strong relationships and managing territory effectively.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and during irregular hours as required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Several years of experience in an undergraduate admissions office.
  • Effective timeโ€‘management, organizational, and analytical skills to monitor territory development.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, interpersonal, and publicโ€‘speaking experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the Northern California territory and to visit campus.
  • Valid driverโ€™s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Experience with event planning and service to students/parents.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Capability to stand, walk for extended periods, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masterโ€™s degree
  • Experience with high schools, community colleges, independent counselor groups, and communityโ€‘based organizations in the Northern California territory.
  • Experience as a regional counselor.
  • Experience with CRM, Microsoft Tools, and Google Apps suite.
  • Knowledge of current recruiting trends and professional standards such as NACACโ€™s Statement of Principles of Good Practices.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken foreign language.
