Position Overview
The Arizona Department of Revenue is seeking a Business Intelligence Analyst to apply analytical thinking, data mining, visualization, and business intelligence techniques to support strategic business goals.
The role will focus on analyzing complex business data, identifying trends and actionable insights, developing reports and dashboards, writing SQL queries, and communicating findings to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Create and maintain reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
  • Analyze data using SQL, Power BI, MS Excel, and Google Sheets.
  • Identify trends, patterns, and actionable business insights.
  • Write, execute, and analyze SQL queries.
  • Create ad-hoc and standard SSRS reports.
  • Analyze large volumes of data and ensure accuracy and validity of datasets and reports.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business data and reporting needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate business needs to improve workflow processes.
  • Troubleshoot BI tool issues and perform performance and usability optimization.
  • Organize, classify, and synthesize data to identify fundamental business issues.
  • Develop logical conclusions, options, and solutions based on data analysis.
  • Develop and maintain Visual Basic (VB) applications and automation scripts for reporting and data analysis.
  • Provide technical support to business users and stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple priorities and work independently or collaboratively.
Required Skills
  • Hands-on experience with SQL and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong data analytics experience.
  • Experience working with relational databases / RDBMS.
  • Experience with Power BI, SQL, Excel, and data visualization.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills.
  • Ability to analyze large datasets and identify trends and solutions.
  • Ability to work with confidential information appropriately.
Preferred Skills
  • Visual Basic (VB) development and scripting.
  • SSRS reporting.
  • Microsoft Access.
  • Google Workspace / Google Suite.
  • Experience with software development processes, requirements analysis, testing, and problem resolution.
  • Interest in and aptitude for working with AI tools and technologies.

Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience is required.
